Burning man and all the burners have already inspired me beyond measure
I can only hope to inspire you all back if you see as i do the similar/complimentary nature of what i write to you now and the essence of what all your burning hopes and dreams seem to express
Please listen if you will
For you, for all...

I write to you and many others today with an idea that I believe has the potential to greatly assist everyone to collectively realize anything that our hearts desire. With enough support it has the potential to not only bring together, inspire and empower countless numbers, but to organize their energy towards deeply purposeful action. It would function perfectly without any kind of discrimination among participants, granting equal access and meaning to everyone from the devout world changing activist to the casual daydreamer who stumbles across the urge to fight an injustice.

Why...

Together we are being faced with an ever increasing number of issues in the world today, both large and small in scale at a ever increasing rate. Yet at the same time are, sadly and ironically enough, becoming increasingly separate from another in an ever increasing number of ways. I'm sure we've all passed by the words "the illusion of separation i|s the greatest tragedy of humankind." We are now coming to a time that the reality behind them i|s starting to have immeasurable consequence not only on our collective level of suffering but on all the lost possibilities of our time. No one with even the faintest connection to the most basic elements of humanity can ignore nor deny this anymore. We cannot afford to, for every aspect of life and lives worth living depends on the fact that we don't. Without ways to truly organize the best of what we are together, regardless of how or what for, the worst that can happen surely will.

What & how...

By collaborating an innovative collection of tools and resources all aimed at simple and/or radical collective involvement this idea seeks to finally utilize all the potentials that the information age has opened up to us, and indeed that the forces of unhindered communication has been capable of with all too little fanfare throughout all the ages. Quickly, easily, and effectively we can collectively manipulate a freely owned system in an forever expanding number of ways to immediately create transformative momentum behind any change/theory/idea/opinion/faith/ideal/hope/facts/prophecies/plea/rant, etc.. in a powerfully constructive environment. It could act as a reputed ally to any cause found from Amnesty international to an indispensable tool for John-seemingly-insignificant-Doe in any actions such as rallying new scales of support for ventures like releasing prisoners of conscience, commuting death sentences, bringing torturers to justice, persuading government to change their laws and practices, spreading awareness of essential knowledge, or getting a new set of lights put up at an unsafe local intersection. A powerful catalyst for connection and empowerment of any like-minded individual, an creative incentive to stand up against all or any day-to-day injustice, or an invincible center for the conception of other virgin tools for humankind- if properly supported and addressed it promises endless new potentials for all input, output, cause, action, and reaction for any kind of effort by any kind of person.

To all who read that through I applaud you! For those who didn't fall asleep through reading it, I salute you!!

Now, to brass tax. I actually did skim it pretty thoroughly and could not find a commerce link in it. OK, I found a bunch of boring scrawl - there's no law against it. But I could not find a commercial link in there.

If'n you could direct me to it... then it's something we can do something about. But otherwise... who am I to restrict this fine person their freedom of speech? (Even if said speech will put one to sleep...)

Yes, burning man i|s revolutionary...we all go out to the middle of nowhere, apart from everywhere else, claim ourselves to be exceptional from the 'default world,' live it up for a week, and wait for it all to happen again.
I love it too, don't get me wrong, i'm counting down the days.
The only problem that i see, as with any other spiritualist, activist, or any other connective site, i|s the lack of any means to take the connections we acquire beyond the level of individual, to easily organize and collaborate that connection into actions with real momentum, in all places, outside of the desert.
Sure we can take turns posting, and it all gets lost in the bottom of the pile, just like every other bit of information on the net, but never accumulates to anything more then a singular reaction from whoever reads it.
Just take the time to look at the site, i thought that we were supposed to be the most willing and openminded people out there, ready to find ways to 'hope for the future' with others when given the chance

There I|S a problem.
As with any spiritualist, activist, or any other connective site or organization, there i|s always a detrimental lack of any means to take the connections we acquire beyond the realm of the individual. As with any forum or any connective measures we can find on the internet today, the information takes turns piling up, posts inside a topic, topics inside a forum, forums inside a site; it all just piles up, eventually making its way to the bottom to decay or be forgotten. The best result of this that we could hope for, i|s in the passing reactions of all those who happen to slip by, or that someone else might someday dig to the bottom to find some weathered bit of life. To truly make use of any of the information out there, to permanently bridge the gap between the individual and the collective power of thought, we need to utilize any means possible that allows us to easily organize and collaborate any connection into actions with real momentum that are equally viable everywhere. I believe i have concieved a way to make this very possible, to once and for all end the curse of isolation which has spead to even the most free reaches of human potential.

The TRUE way to create Oneness would be to gather on a hillside and raise our voices in song, extolling the virtues of apple trees, honey bees and snow-white turtle doves. Ideally, a hillside under a big dome. With some robot friends to tend the gardens. Cantaloupe, anyone? I grew it in the dirt!

Apparently not. You use a whole bunch of meaningless phrases with lots of spiritual connotations that it's impossible to distinguish what you're saying from other religions or fad psudo-religions. Most of those people are sincere too as far as i can tell. It doesn't mean there is meaning in what they say. Perhaps take some writing classes so that you can better express yourself in forums?

I dont see what you people dont get about it. It's basically the simplest idea out there, and the best - connectivity. All this guy wants is to connect people with good ideas so they can grow in numbers and be empowered... and although Im sure you all havent read through this post to get to this point, I'll add this to that one particular remark, about keeping his pants on.
obviously you dont get it... what I believe he is referring to in that line is that all the worlds problems stem from people being secretive and lying to one another, which goes hand in hand with all the corruption and greed. If we were to reveal all that was hidden, our race would be considerably smarter, less broken, and people like fireseed probably wouldn't have to worry about people like you poking holes in them.

So, basically, since I know you all hate reading, here's the short version:

Anyway, fireseed, am I correct in that what you are trying to say is that Burning Man needs a unified, concise, articulate voice to the rest of the world?

If so, then there is at least one inherent problem I see with that concept: One of the major tenets of Burning Man, by my understanding, in individuality. By its very natural, Burning Man is not unified, or even focused. It is a sprawling, barely contained mess of an event, which is one of the things many of the people going to it love. Even though it is thought of as a liberal event, conservatives can come if they want (although it is difficult for me to picture some of my more right wing, religious conservative relatives attending...!)

As far as I know, "Greening the Burn" is as political a message as the event has every taken on in an official capacity. As a political message, being environmentally aware is a pretty safe one. I am guessing that this is deliberate-- keeping the event separate from politics is probably a survival strategy. (It allows the event to claim itself separate from its attendees.)

Now, if you want to set up an organization which promotes the ideals which you think are embodied by Burning Man, there is nothing stopping you from that. You could have your own camp at Burning Man to expose people to the organization and its goals. (If you can write up a concise, readable business plan, that is even better. In the outside world people take you more seriously if you have a business plan stating your goals, how you intend to achieve them, who does what in the organization, etc.)

Anyway, that is my assessment of the situation.

Look, O Broken-Boned One, there are a lot of bright people on this board--bright people who don't like vague feel-good prose. If the original poster truly wants to change the world he/she is going to have to learn to communicate clearly and consicely what is going on. He/She is going to have to "sell" the ideas, make others aware of why they are vital and how they are world changing. This is a good place to start. There is a lot of good information on what is being done wrong (Yikes! Passive voice to avoid the he/she dilemma!) that can be good input on how to craft the next post. If he/she choses to ignore that, then we get some insight into the importance of ego v. message in the O.P.'s worldview.

When you get right down to it, don't you expect that an "Action Plan" would have, well, a little more 'action'? Not just some ladidah formless words and a few clicks? This might actually be a place for *gasp* bullet points!

And we never even had a debate on why and h ow the world should change. I mean, who died and left the Topians in charge? If the Topians die, do I get to be in charge? And well, to put a not very fine point on it, we already have someone in charge who's bad with prose (is that Larry or GWB? I'll never tell...) That hasn't proven to be a winning idea.

Anyone who thinks they have "the better way" is going to promote their idea over all others, and try to get as many converts to their way of thought as they can. The more converts, the more power they wield.

Sorry - but it's human nature. The Confidence Artist's trade - Appeal to their humanity, tell them how eglitarian the org you're a part of is, and they will blindly empty their wallets and sign over their rights. Aren't there so-called "cult" religions that did that? And Governments?

Look at a certain recently changed government, the people they suckered into thinking *they* had the right idea, so they could garner more power. They did. Even if they get shamed out of office - they come out with power and prosperity they didn't have before. THAT is a scary thought.

I'm not sure that I agree with the "It takes a village to raise a child" but I do know it takes an idiot to raze a village. Especially a global one...

Back on subject, tho... I find it interesting newbie #1 posts this and follows up with a few very non-commital messages, and then *another* newbie springs up defending newbie #1 as their only post.

Schmaltzi signs up and says "Believe in me, follow me, and give me your money. I have a plan." Then Bitzi signs up and says "Believe in Schmaltzi, she is good, send her your money and follow her." Then Flitzi signs up, and says "You know, I don't know about Schmaltzi, but I know Bitzi, and if she says Schmaltzi is OK, then that's a good thing..." Then Quackzi signs up and says "How dare you unenlightened slob talk bad about Schmaltzi - you are a real jerkoff, go f*** yourself"... You know the etcs behind this.
