Age Requirment

Post by SurfinFool » Tue Mar 20, 2007 6:02 pm

My friends and I are planing to attend the 2008 Burning Man. At the time we will all be 18 but on the website it says that 18 year olds need a 21 or older adult as a chaperone. Even though we will be adults do we seriously still need a guide?

I'm pretty sure that's a typo, I noticed myself. It should read that those under 18 need someone 21 or older. 18's should get in just fine. I don't know this for a fact but I'm sure others can confirm this.

http://www.burningman.com/whatisburning ... ml#Tickets

says children under 18 must be accompanied blah blah blah.

I'm confident it's a typo. Drop a line to BMOrg and let them know the URL and ask them to confirm it's an error.

Forget about even attending. Burning Man was better last year. And besides, it's crawling with hippies.

Yah. Nothing out there anyway, just an old dusty dried out desertish alkali flat. And wind. Hella nasty wind. And the duststorms... egads. Not to mention having to drive a hunnert miles to get there. Naw, stay home where its safe and comfy and you have less of a chance of dying to death. You can prolly see it on TV, anyway...

In 2008 the participants will have to be at least 30 years old. This new rule is being adopted to discourage ravers from attending so BM can get back to its pagan fire worshipping roots. Also there is a new gate procedure, you will no longer be forced to hold onto ticket stubs. Instead a small brand will be placed on the wrist to identify you as a participant with the year of attendance noted. This will also serve to mark virgins properly so the can be initiated. The theme for 2007 centers around a rebirth of BM, this will be the last year for spectators. In 2008 all glow sticks will be banned, only fire will be permitted as a form of illumination. Also shirtcocking is required by all male participants so be sure to bring suncreen of a high SPF.

I hope that they have the non-conductive stuff this year - my Hitachi has never run the same since '06... someone said they had it spiked with Barbasol and Lemonade...

Center Camp - what should I have expected, eh? :x

No newcomer's allowed this year anyhow.
