Biggest art ever?
Biggest art ever?
As I start working on some big (for me) art, I've been wondering how big some past projects have been. Anyone have numbers for the largest stuff ever?
Draka is listed as 124 feet, I seem to remember people saying the 2004 temple was 1/4 mile long, the burning dragon last year was 1247', the man has been holding steady at around 80 feet high.
What am I missing? What about the stuff created for the satellite picture, the chandelier, etc?
I'm not trying to top anyone, just trying to get a feel for the scale of things.

Pretty sure this is the biggest artwork - A giant letter "C" that is 8,801 feet across
inside a giant Chrysler Logo that is 11,800 feet across.

Haha giant letter C indeed
Personal biggest scariest was "The Ladder" http://images.burningman.com/index.cgi?image=22279 ...listed as 108' tall but looked like a quarter mile to my mind, I gave it a wide berth 'cause I just KNEW someone or something would fall off of it onto me (that whole don't walk under ladders thing x100) but a campmate scampered clear to the top TWICE. eeeek.

I believe the largest land art piece is in Nevada but it's not BRC. Check out Michael Heizer's current piece City which he's been working on for sometime now.Pretty sure this is the biggest artwork - A giant letter "C" that is 8,801 feet across

Any idea if he has finished the sculpture? The article was written in 1999, and Heizer was hoping to finish the City in five years. (I think it is a pretty cool concept, and wouldn't mind visiting it someday.)

I don't believe he has. I understand 'City' is a work in progress. Supposedly Heizer is VERY difficult to approach and even harder to get an interview with. The site isn't open for visitors yet. For now you can have fun on Google Earth trying to find the site from space.Any idea if he has finished the sculpture? Start in the southern half of Nevada.
That's a lot of real estate! I'll search for it when my eyes aren't so tired (although I think it might be the weather bothering them, rather than overuse, come to think of it.Start in the southern half of Nevada.
Thanks.
