There are several places to obtain hydrogen, but I was primarily thinking of water, afterall, 2/3rds of the globe is covered in water. After burning Hydrogen (oxygenation), you get water.....So not like we're going to run out.....
All of the great scientific thinkers seem to run into problems with storage, transportation, filling stations, and whatever. But why don't we just create the Hydrogen from water in your gas tank on board your car? You will have the potential problem of not enough "free energy", but that is when you could use a backup (Yes, from fossil fuels), but at much reduced requirements.

If I can save sufficient gas money, I may just take the long way 'round and take advantage of the prevailing winds. Any messages for the Mongolian Regionals?gyre wrote:Robotland,
Wind direction has a recognized effect on mileage.
I think turbulence can cause more effect than windspeed would lead you to think.
Even sports cars are affected.
You may want to consider an air dam and other air trim.
On a truck there is much you can do.
I will be trying to put as low a sacrificial air dam as I can manage.
It can be done to improve cooling dramatically too, if that matters to you.
Not much you can do about wind direction.
It may be a consideration for certain routes that are known for crosswinds.
You can test any changes with a controlled coastdown on a measured stretch of road.

You have traveled a long road to come around and agree with me .. Yea hidred is the way to go.. There still are no free lunches..It would take more fossil fuel to convert than just run the fuel through the engine we have today..

You might have missed the point on the un-utilized "free energy" available. A vehicle moving down the road does not utilize it's Kinetic energy, available "wind" energy, or solar energy. My point was, those offsets could significantly reduce other fuels (in battery strorage) needed to break the Hydrogen bonds.
