Yeah, but he's wrong about buses. He seems to assume a standard city bus. A school bus, fixed up properly, should be nearly unstoppable. (Actually, a full sized, Greyhound style bus would probably work pretty well, too, if done up properly.)

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, the first estimate they got is a little over $3000, plus they will need to have a ground wire attached to their gas line(?!). They are going for other estimates. I still would rather have solar heated hot water, and not have to spend any money heating my water. Then again, given the heavy overcast skies these past few days (weeks?), I might be stuck taking some cold showers.

What the heck is an S.S. vent pipe, anyway? And why does it cost so much? :?

That may refer to stainless steel.
I found a good heater for about $800-1,000.
They make sense for an rv.
I find them hard to justify for a house.
Using a conditioning tank for a house can save a lot too.

Well, they've already decided it will pay for itself in about four years and have all but bought one. IIRC, they are cheaper if you don't use a lot of hot water, but are much less efficient if a lot of hot water is needed at one time.

Why the heck did I get a call from the Department of Military Affairs on my cell phone today, and how did I miss it? I had the cell phone near me all day! :? (I guess I had better call them back tomorrow. Maybe they want me to go to Iraq and straighten out the mess there! )

10 points to anyone who builds a castle on that steep sided hill near the Badger Army Ammunition Plant. It has been needing one for years now.

20 points to anyone who paints one of the tanks parked in front of the Badger Army Ammunitions Plant powder pink and the other a powder blue. Ever since they were placed there in the waning days of Badger they have needed that color treatment.

100 points to anyone building a full scale replica of the Titanic in the desert in the American Southwest. It must either be made out of all authentic materials, or else made out of concrete. This needs to be done "just because".

110 points to anyone who inscribes the Burning Man logo onto the Moon via a high powered laser, in the manner of Chairface Chippendale in the Tick. This would do more to raise awareness of the event than anything else done to date.

Well, damn. It looks like I am going to have to declare bankruptcy. Without an income, there is no way I can pay what people are taking me to small claims court for, plus the other bills. I am sick and tired of my dad lecturing me about my finances, and his constant trying to tell me I am not taking them seriously enough, etc. After I told him I am being taken to small claims court, he's been trying to tell me about the end-of-the-world troubles that can cause me.

I'm just sick of all these financial problems, and just want them to end.

It sounds more like a parental thing than a factual thing.

Contact a financial advice thing - you can go through yur county social services for help or recommendations probably - to find out the *real* story...

I got the same S&D about filing bankruptcy - and I've never been out of debt because of it. Had I done it years and years ago it's be way behind me and I would have been in better shape.

Dads can be a PITA sometimes. I miss mine, and I love him, but he could still be a PITA!

And sometimes - it's best not to discuss issues with parents. Serious. What you need is adults who can help., not parents who still think of you as their 9 year old. Talk about anything, but solve your own probs and realize when you turn to dad you'll get this.

Even when you're 35. or 40. Parents sometimes have a hard time seeing their kids as adults. Funny, that, but true.

God luck,
Sus

Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles Southeast District Manager Mary Luther's primary job seems to be writing long, extremely detailed memos, and keeping those memos in circulation for years afterwards. They concern such dire topics as, when placed on hold by Madison (when calling for help with some customer related trouble) not staying on the telephone for longer than 2 minutes....

Kudos to Al Gore for his research and commitment to The Inconvinient Truth.

Lets give him the celebratory Key to the City this year.

And give Fishy a sparkly tiera and make her the Homecoming Queen.

Lorgasm - it's so amazing for you to say that...

The first time I met Fishy was a few years ago when I hunted her down over at one of the ESD facilities to give her a special gift I brought to thank her for being such a voice of help and strength on e-playa. It was indeed a sparkly tiara.

I've been too tired at the end of the day to do much internet/web surfing. (Plus, I got a copy of Civilization III and vegged out by staying up late playing the darned thing two nights last week. I might be too disgusted with the game to play it much more.)
