Hello
Hello I am new to this forum/website/BM. I have heard stories for years but never thought I would go because of the price and the madness of it all. I am definitely going this year though and I am getting very *!^%@!!&# excited about it.
I am a film student and I saw that we are not allowed to bring cameras without a permit? how does that work? any suggestions?
My favorite films are Celebration, Barraka, F for fake, the Host, Clockwork Orange, Easy rider, Dead Man.... it keeps going
I don't know if I am allowed to talk about drugs on the forum? even if I just allude to them?

You can bring cameras, still and video, and registration is at the gate when you come in. They give you a tag and you agree not to show your videos publicly. Not to show your videos publicly. Any problems?
And this is a public forum, so what you say can and will be held against you in a court of law.
You'll have a ball. Welcome to Burning Man.

You can bring cameras, but if they are video capable (even your cell phone), or you plan to make money from your photographic efforts, you are expected to register them with the media folks at BM. (I plan to, even though I have yet to make a dime on my art)
My favorite film of all time is The Big Lebowski (sort of like BM - either you love it or you hate it).
I'm sure you could talk about drugs if you want, but why would you? Be aware that anything illegal in your hometown is also illegal at BM. And there will plenty of plain and uniformed officers of the law out there to enforce those laws. If, on the other hand, you are in recovery (congradulations) and want to know how to avoid all the drugs and booze you heard about out there, I'm sure there are old posts galore on that subject too.
From one burgin to another - welcome!

Check out this page: http://www.burningman.com/preparation/e ... meras.html It has some details about registering the camera and a link to a downloadable registration form, though that might still be the 2006 version.LordBarkin wrote:I am a film student and I saw that we are not allowed to bring cameras without a permit? how does that work? any suggestions?
If you want to do anything commercial with the video, you might also want to check out the press section of the site.
Buckaroo Banzai opens on the playa.
That film starts where Black Rock City ends.

It would be a shame if I had to resort to self-deception to preserve my faith in objective reality.

Is that the one with Adam Ant and the jamaican aliens from another dimension? Good movie, I think I'll add it to my netflix since I haven't seen it in awhile.gyre wrote:Buckaroo Banzai opens on the playa.

I don't know about Adam Ant.
I know someone who has an oscillation overthruster from it.

You're thinking of Peter Weller in the title role.Toolmaker wrote:Is that the one with Adam Ant and the jamaican aliens from another dimension? Good movie, I think I'll add it to my netflix since I haven't seen it in awhile.gyre wrote:Buckaroo Banzai opens on the playa.
