Fish Art Offerings

Post by EvilDustBooger » Mon May 07, 2007 8:27 am

Thought it might be nice to have an area to post fish/fishy related photos, art, poetry, etc -
I wish I could do more.
I know many people here are frustrated that there is so little they can do at this point, except to hold her up in thoughts and prayers.
Fishy has a long difficult journey ahead. Much healing to do. And depending on her health and will power, it may be some time before we (eplayans who aren`t friends of the family) hear from her again.
Maybe some can express themselves here with art while we wait for her return.

....here`s a pic of something we(Montana & me) put in our modest little
tomato/pepper garden in honor of fishy...

Art by proxy....

I have a friend who works for Film Roman, the folks behind The Simpsons (and thus our three-eyed fishy friend). She happened to be in the Bayarrhea this weekend, and I dropped a word in her ear.

Fishy will be getting a series poster signed (and drawn upon) by as many members of the creative team my friend can track down.

Great idea Karine!

Unfortunately I`m not very good at details with a brush...

...Will you accept photographic submissions?

Hysterical.
"Everything is more wonderful when you do it with a car, don't you think?"

It would be a shame if I had to resort to self-deception to preserve my faith in objective reality.

A different poster company than the one from which I stole the above link offers a 40"x60" version of this poster; I'll be shipping it down to my friend as soon as I get paid on the 15th.

Karine - I'm in for the 777 project! Please PM me the address. I assume textiles are ok? So does the finished size need to be 777 or can we fudge with mat and frame? (Mine will need to be under glass as it is VERY fragile)

Hi Ya Gyre - The art or the 777 project? Well, I'll answer both! The project is posted above by Karine and will be an auction to benefit Fishy of art that measures 7x7, held on 07/07/07.

The art is Japanese bunka shishu - it's like painting with silk thread. The problem is that it doesn't use "locking" kind of stitches so it is easily pulled out if exposed to any handling. But you get some amazing results, especially if you mix the media a little and use a hand dyed fabric, etc...

Sounds interesting.
I have a very old piece of chinese art done with pieces of different fabrics.
I've never seen material like it before.
I hope you post some pictures.

I say 7 " x 7" final cut...
So if you could mount it, or it could be pinned to a wall at a final 7 " x 7" - I LOVE your idea! Sounds beautiful!

Thank you Karine.
This is a good idea for a fund raiser and(relief) an actual tangible thing folks can individually work on for Fishy.

hope you don`t mind if I post it here.

Count on something from both Montana & me.

This is exciting! I`m looking forward to seeing the gallery grow!

How can WE bid on stuff?
Maybe an email/silent auction option for long distance peeps?

great job Karine.

And PK, that poster signed by Simpson dignitaries is
really sweet...I`d love to have 1 of those.

Fishy gave me Hot Jesus for the Home for Wayward Art, but he's very much a part of our camp and family now.

Hot Jesus loves you, Fishy!

I have Hot Jesus in the hall right now, he fell off the wall downstairs and is awaiting frame repair. Like Bucky, Hot Jesus attends the regionals and decompression with us.

the song "Fishing" by Widespread Panic reminds me of Fishy when I hear it...

Inspiration
Oh, she barely waits a moment
Elevator doors open
Hear her footsteps touch the stairs

Words walk by
Describing definition
Stop and talk about it

Narcissus
Is just too easy to see
We're always looking
When we see fishes
When we go fishin'

Thoughts meander
Risin' all around us
Rise and fall and rise again
Oh, we stop and talk about it

Strong beliefs
Like ideas come to life
Turn atoms into rain and stone
Sands and tall trees

Worlds passed by
Defyin' description
Stop and talk about it
Talk about it

And Maia, she dances
She dissolves into the light
Illusions of light
Oh Maia, she dances

Deep romance and poetry
Songs of ruin
Gurdjieff and Adi Da
She dances in the light
Dance in the light

Maia, she dances
Oh Maia, she dances
Talent hits a target no one else can hit; Genius hits a target no one else can see.
Arthur Schopenhauer

dJ you beat me to that posting. That is one of my favorite WSP songs and always makes me think of Fishy.
I'm not much of an artist, but these are funny and fishy...

We are getting our first pieces in.

Not the same thing, Aiee! The "Crypto-Fishist" being referred to here is a long time e-playan who is loved by many people who use this board. If you do a little exploring around the Open Discussion section you should be able to figure out what this is all about without rehashing the current state of events.

We now return to regular programming already in progress.......
