Annual SCARAB Dance: Night in a Kuchie
Annual SCARAB Dance: Night in a Kuchie
Just a brief note that this year's annual SCARAB Tues. night world music dance will be "Night in a Kuchie: World Reggae." Skanking sounds from Africa, Brazil, India and other far-flung locales, as well as from ground zero in Jamaica. As in the past 5 years, the first 50 dancers get a CD of the night's mix.
Come join us as we pass it on the left hand side.

location for '07
Don't know yet, but we'll be a registered theme camp, so just look for us in the book under "SCARAB."
We'll have our first fire art project ever out front: The Green Man Yellow Justice Project. It will feature a 6ft. tall Man in green, with a long arc of yellow e-wire pee falling down upon a custom steel globe, on fire, with "ExxonMobil" embedded into it.
If it all works out, we should be hard to miss

it's all about the bowls, ya see....
No problem! Come on by to get your tunes this year, too. We've upgraded the audio gear, and the software I use to make the discs, so the dancing should be smooth sailing all the way through.
ps. A famous old reggae lyric is "Pass the kuchie on the left hand side". When those little kids in Musical Youth in the '80s remade the song, I guess a blatant (to Jamaican ears, anyway) reference to the ganja pipe was considered a little too much in the "just say no" decade, so the lyric was changed to "pass the duchie...", which I think is a bowl of food. And it was a huge hit.
But we're all about the kutchie at SCARAB

SCARAB Camp address
SCARAB Camp will be located at Coral Reef and 7:30 this year.
Thanks to all of you who came Tuesday night to our world reggae dance. Unfortunately (as many of you may have noticed with other events), the BMORG had a printing error for Tuesday events in the "What, When....." booklet, that duplicated Tuesday events for Thursday as well.....so, we're sorry that all of you who came by Thursday, thinking the dance was that night, missed us on Tuesday. I hope there weren't too many other events that were hosed by the printing error.
The layout of the "What, When, Where" this year was almost unusable, on top of the printing errors. I hope more care is given when this is printed up next year.
