This is going to be a touchy issue for the bush admin since one of basis of Saddam's, crimes against humanity charges was that he killed young men or boys depending on your opinion.

I dont get it. If the charges were dismissed, why does he still have to stay in prison?

Another thing, Libby was convicted of leaking a CIA officer.

Isn't the law, if convicted, one is to be executed?

I think he was convicted because he did a Martha Stewart?

"American Law is Bullshit"

Bet you couldn't get Paris Hilton to agree with you! Well not until she gets out of jail that is!

Lieberman (or should it be: Liebergoldberg) Now wants the US to go to war with Iran (I'm so glad now that he and Gore did get elected)

Hey, its not because he's jewish. Its because he's a warhawk protecting American interests not Israel's.

i'll bet fifty bucks to as many people want to take me up on it - that when Bush is leaving office; Scooters name is on the list of pardons that every president dumps on the AG/DOJ as he is walking out the doors of the white house.

Clinton pardoned something like a thousand people. Bush cant do it as a sitting pres, but as a lame duck who cares, theres no recourse.

We'll see in Jan 2008.

The diffrence is, Clinton was impeached for perjury and obstruction of justice about a BLOWJOB. Libby's perjury and obstruction of justice was for outing a CIA agent which is not an impeachable offense but a treasonable one punishable by death.

There *is* another difference... President Clinton was a sitting president. Lewis Libby was at a lower level of government - not much, but some.

The dif is... to prosecute a president you have to impeach him out of office first. Then again, it's a dead end... as the VP (now the Pres) can then issue a presidential pardon. It, um, kinda is a slap in the face, but unless the VP despises the Pres (or has major political ambitions of his own) the Impeachment is the end of the story for all intents and porpoises.

Now... to add to this... the above blurb is the reason that Congress is so not wanting to impeach Duhh-bull-eeewwww.... tho the result would be a much smarter white house, it would also be a much, much more dangerous one.

I remember something said about 8 or 9 years ago. That if Duhh-bull-eeewwww was elected, it would be a shoe-in for the democrats in 2008. (it was known the GOP would win in 04, even if they got 12% of the popular vote). The scary thing is the cutesy funny Dem trying to be a cutesy attarctive candidate was also the one who tried to push major bueraucratic socialist changes on the country 14 years ago as first lady...

It's time to do something radically different. What I'd like to see is... hmmm... someone with the political goals of Ron Paul without the GOP stigma. He may *still* get my vote anyway... he's the only one who has his head on straight. And supports states and citizens rights. Everyone else seems to want to either take us down the road to National Socialism or Soccialist Nationalism.

Unless we can get Al Gore or Howard Dean to run again. And meet the dirty antics of the GOP machine without backing down. ;)

578.4 days . . .

By then he`ll have passed laws to alter the English language to aid in quick constitutional changes.

The word "Country" will be shortened to "Cunt" .
...and all inhabitants will be treated as such.

"Nuclear" and "Terrorist" will also be made easier to pronounce.

"Economy" will remain a non sequitor.

Theres no point to recall gold, our currency isnt tied to it - Copper on he other hand???? (we have used half of the easy copper to get at ore)

Things that will happen high on my probability list in 10-15 years?

How about, federalizing / ,militarizing of oil production?
with caps as to how much we are willing to pay for oil. I say 100 a barrel and there are riots, and we roll back oil prices to 85.00 and say thats all we will pay for it - What is opec to do? when their biggest client by far says "fuck off"? they will fold. we will place troops (more) in Saudi, to "Protect" oil supplies.

Picture this:
We invade Iran for whatever BS reason we can formulate -
they will make Iraq look like a weekend trip. 4000 US dead in 5 years? I bet we can do that every week in Iran.
Nothing would more polarize the region than invading Iran either, we lose bases in Saudi, and Qatar. Or we stay when they revoke lease and have a relationship like at Guantanamo, where we are unwanted squatters, by force.

Oil is embargoed on US(again), OPEC doesnt sell to us, leaving the Chinese to buy up all the cheap oil - as OPEC has to sell the low proced oil to someone. China likes the idea nad sells the TRILLIONS in us bonds they have been buying to prop up the dollar to increase Chinese - american sales, and our dollar drops like a stone. 4 USD to the Euro?

Gas in US hits 7 bucks a gallon, which makes beef, milk, fertilizer, diapers, medicines double in price as the cost to ship triples, Airfare from Seattle to LA normally 120 bucks hits 400.00 and a trip across country is in the thousands, power in the southeast (SO Cal, AZ, and every other state that relies on gas turbines for power brown out, or have rolling blackouts (2006?) to meet demand.

I can go on all day long - Iran is a nation it is better to get along with than against. Simply buy them off - its the american way. What do they want? give it to them. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

Sound like a shitty policy or defeatism on my part? how about realism, and a clear picture of what is in store for us. We (the US ) IMHO have stretched any credibility eith the UN, and every head of state, as well as most citizens worldwide we will be doing Iran alone.

Everyone I talk to overseas is waiting for the next head of state in the US.

I truly believe that my parents generation (65+) is the first to leave the earth in worse shape than when they got it. I would like to see that trend reverse.

just four years ago, if you cut me in half I would gave bled GOP, and had red, white, and blue rings, in the shape of a "W" all the way around.

God, I think I am a liberal conservative now. My views have changed so much, it is mind boggoling to me too.

later .

Hmmm, I don't think that anyone has talked about invading Iran. We're fresh out of soldiers. From Lieberman on down [way down], the only strategy is to bomb. The shrub has made no secret of his plan to use nukes. Shrub has already vaporised about 260 tons of DU,,,with hardly a complaint from the world community.
He'd be happy to nuke Iran just so his cronnies can sell more bombs. He's not worried about a hundred or so nukes. Shoot,,, with a little luck, he can start a "nuclear winter" to offset global warming.
Fallout,,,, the latest studies show that it's actually good for you.

The debt is 300% of GDP. When the adjustment comes, it's going to come with a vengance. When stagflation rolls on in, heads will roll. This country is so big that much of our economy depends on cheap transportation.
Finland has over $7 a gallon for gas and 20% unemployment.
There are millions in this country that live check to check. When they can no longer afford to live, I'm hoping that they will ally with AARP to form a huge voting block that will return us to a constitutional gov.

The Dems are hopeless. They proved that with the Medicare prescription drug plan. Billary will spend us to oblivion given the chance,,,, as long as it goes to the big corporations.
Maybe Ron Paul has the answers. SOP reps and dems sure as hell aren't going to fix anything.
I don't post things because I believe that they are the absolute truth. I post them because I believe that they should be considered.

Unfortunatly folks what were missing in all the details is the much broader picture..War in Iraq and Afghanistan, soaring energy prices, talking point politicians, and a complicit media are nothing more then symtoms of our current crisis. We live in a world thats has more information and less knowledge, more money and less spending power, more rhetoric and less and less hope (wow that sounded alot like some rhertoric right there). But seriously what we need to begin to grasp is that change is not going to come through conventional means; we as burners understand better then most what an active and motivated community can accomplice and its time we start to do what we can to take the lead in changing not just this country but this planet...Its not about democrat or republican...not just about the enviorment...or energy or war...Its about what we hold dear as a people and a society..we have to begin to value each other more then the almighty dollar...We have to stand for what we believe in...vote for who we support..not who can get elected...We have to make the hard choices...and I know I fail regualrly at this but until everyday average yet informed citizens begin to say no to the consumerist, over worked, xenophobic lifestyle we been programmed to live and better yet stand up and join voices with others who feel the same the staus quo will continue to thrive and the voice of change will be little more then a whimper.

That thing at the end about the Mexicans was intense.

Then to top it off, the episode was dedicated to "Fishy".

Go figure.

What's going on in here? Nobody has even one comment about Scooter's commutation of sentence? From this opinionated bunch I expected to see some comments in here.

For me I don't like it, but the president had the legal authority to do it and he did. I'm just wondering if he'll give Scooter a full pardon before he leaves office?
