Lets burn together!

Post by samindaman » Tue Mar 06, 2007 2:27 pm

Hello Burners!

i am going to be a first time burner this year. I am from Chicago but will be in Sacremento, CA from june until the end of burning man. so far i am planning to go alone and to just figure things out as i go. but id also like to be apart of the art so i was thinking i could hookup with some burners from around the sacramento area to see how i could be apart of the scene. Do you have any information for me?

Who i am: i am a 21 year old Illinois state university student. always up for an adventure and always willing drop myself into new cultures experiences for the sake of "learning of new people" for the sake of apreciation. burning man is a culture of people i have yet to mingle with and i am very excited to do so!

my expectations from burning man: i am expecting an amazing social event with amazing individuals

What i can contribute: i am open to anything, up for anything, independent, hard working, social, mechnically inclined (i can help with any building) and willing to volunteer my services!

can i help at all? please let me know!

thanks

SAm

Much as I have to admit, I really NEED a burning slave, my recommendation is to volunteer for the rangers and or the lamplighters. Agreat way to quickly get your head rewrapped around the experience with other cool people. I've never done that, but it seems to work great for a lot of people.

Seriously, if you simply come, and get involved, you'll have a great time. The first year is the best year. It doesn't matter if it's '87 or '97 or 2007.

SCORE! i filled out a volunteer application and have already gotten a repsonse from the lamplighters and ARTery. ART said i should have a burning man experience before i decide to help them out. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

Also find someone in Sacramento area working on an art project and volunteer to help them with it before going out to the burn. that is great fun, and really adds meaning to your experience.

Hey man...

I'm a 20 (21 in Sept!) year old first timer too, and I'm coming from Sacramento.

I'm looking for others to camp with. I'm not going to be bringing many luxuries- I'll bring fruit and food that doesn't have to be refrigerated, or cooked, probably.

The event is all about community- so I wouldn't mind meeting someone new, and having a mate to explore all the new sights with.

I'm excited as hell!

YO BRO thats great to hear from someone in the same situation as me. i filled out an application on the site to volunteer. i figured it was a great way to meet people. i am thinking of volunteering with either the CAFE or DPW (Department of Public Works).

as far as survival strategy, I too am keeping it simple. lets keep in touch and see what happens

SCORE!
