Hey, First Things First.

I may not finish ANY of the Green Man things I started, and just paint the spacesuit green instead. (I wanted to do that before I knew what the theme was!) Even though the struts for PBR Mod stack flat, there'll still be over 200 of 'em AND a bunch of odd-shaped control panels, props and tubing...Guaranteed, I'll be driving "Apollo Style" again this year.

Hey Robotland, you think the roller coaster is going to hit the pile too? Such a great idea, but so hard to implement!

Negatory, Good Buddy....In fact, I just emailed you about two minutes ago, discussing my desire to include a Daring Thrill Ride in the PBR Mod! The Short But Thrilling Ride that I had as part of my structure in Hushville a couple years back was a lot of fun, and pretty popular with the locals until the chair broke. I envision an "Ejection Seat" or "Life Pod" scenario, with a 2x4" track that carries the rider down out of the 'Mod and into the open area of camp, the Apokiliptika Parade Ground or just out into the Keyhole. Should we make them "splash down" by riding through our evap pond?
Really, this doesn't stand much of a chance of getting nixed considering that it's such a simple setup. The only difficulties lie in figuring out exactly how the "escape pod" is anchored to the structure and then safely released, how the system is reset, and peripheral safety concerns for bystanders.

*Smacking forehead* Right! I promised taxidermy odds 'n ends.

I'm driving up that way next week. I'll stop by Research Mannikins and ask 'em for seconds.

Hey, thanks for bumping this topic. I have a feeling the video playback feature of the U-Me is doomed to triage. Sure would be nice to have people stop by the camp for a playback of their Unfortunate Monkey Experience. Time will tell.

My whole theme camp, the 9:00 bike repair shop, Johnny & the Playa Cruisers, is gonna be shelved for now, too damn much work!
And bar service aboard the Playa Cruiser will have to be somewhat restrained due to recent focus by our friendly authorities on alcohol and "cars".

I'm so far behind, and my budget is $0.00, so I'm thinking of scraping the whole "food and water" thing.

Don't bother going back and reading my earlier reply...it's, uh...different. NOW I'm dumping the pod-concept, and using a nifty slide that I scored during Spring Curbside Pickup Days. But it WILL be a functional "ride".

"artistic triage"
hee, love that phrase. personally, I like to live in denial until about the day before I leave, sewing furiously as if it will all be done, then piling the stuff that won't be finished onto next year's mental to-do list. ;)

That's fine, unless (like me) you have a literal pile. Compounded yearly. For five years.
The same mounting enthusiasm that enables me to jump in the car bound for BRC and not stop until deep into Iowa also drives me to start new @#!! projects right up until takeoff....Then my mind is so full and rerouted upon return that most of the false starts have to be recycled. Better than not making stuff at all, I guess.
Just yesterday I remembered some fun Green Man heads that I started as a demo for my maskmaking class. Just don't know if they'll make the cut. *sigh*

I have bolts of raw silk which Dad brought to Mom from Japan in the 60s. Now that's optimism, hauling around uncut fabric for 40 years.

I'm afraid to touch it, although I did buck up the courage to cut a skirt from my 70s peasant print yardage. Three or four months ago. I have it half finished.

My dollhouses haven't been touched in ten years I think. Although I did start a new 1/144th scale yesterday. I should get on top of those, they're fairly fabulous when finished, although completely unplaya in nature.

Feck! Nice to know I'm not alone here. The U-Me is so all-consuming that I'll be lucky to do anything for costumes or gifts, and I loooove that stuff.

Last year we finished Mantis in April and I had the whole summer to play. My garage is getting hot, doubly so in that space capsule. The things we do for our little monkey friends.

I almost want to start a new thread, just for surreal Burning Man-related complaints. That'd be the first one.

I've got SCHC (Space Capsule Heat Complaint) too...Had to completely strip the tarps off the PBR MOD to make it comfortable enough to work in. I wish I didn't have to anticipate Michigan weather while building for Nevada.

Yeah, this is that dull throbbing time before crunch time. Any suggestions as to where your PBR space chute slide will deliver the participant? To Jafe's rocket perhaps?

lol. that's in the category of You Know You're A Burner When... ;)
like: Being a burner means never having to ask "but where would I wear that?" or "what would I do with 20lbs of zip ties?"

I love that stuff. The random intense discussions you hear that really couldn't take place in any other context.

oh, and I can understand the problematic cumulation of unfinished projects. I get ideas so fast that it's hard to decide which ones get to be tested.

I was going to make 20 stained glass lanterns (canning jars w/glass stain; battery tealights providing the light) to hang in the tent and canopy, but that's too involved. Instead, I'm going with five or six solar and LED lanterns and twenty paper bag luminarias. Uplight and downlight.

Utterly nixed:

+Prostrate massage and Neitzche
+fecal finger painting
+laminate counterfeiting machine
+explaining how there is nothing "green" in buring shit in the desert in my best Mickey Mouse voice

Tentatively on hold:
+blindfolded costume exchange
+24 hour grope-a-thon
+Drums R Us!

Still A-Go-go:
+daily sunset monolouge in centercamp -- "Does Green Smell Like Money to You, or is it just me?"
+Obtaining additional mindshare for my ongoing "Gift Me" project
+creating pantaloons suitible for spectaparticipating
Fight for the fifth freedom!

It might be better to point the slide out into the "Apokiliptika Parade Ground" or other open area...I'm going to make a little wheeled car that a truly brave soul could attempt to ride down the slide and beyond. That's "EMERGENCY" mode, where simply sliding down on your butt is "EXIT" mode. (I just couldn't COMPLETELY scrap the "little car" idea.)

Nothing is officially dropped, yet, but if I don't have the time, the Hole in The Earth will come in last.

Solarizing the Rat Car, finishing the Green Hand Misfortune Telling Booth, and the Wonderland of Worthless Objects, comes 1st, 2nt, and 3rd.

Playa Dryer

Post by Mister Jellyfish Mister » Sun Feb 24, 2008 10:07 pm

Somebody please bring a clothes dryer, generator, and propane tank out to the deep playa. I want to stumble onto you and put my jacket in for two minutes and have it come out snuggly warm and smelling like a fabric softener sheet.

*bump*. It was a good idea, but it looks like a robotic ferret will not pop out of Zsu Zsu's trailer. Feelth will be confined to projections through her window, so no Caddyshack style pop-goes-the-ferret this year.

Fluffer Voice Overs

Post by Mister Jellyfish Mister » Sun Aug 02, 2009 8:15 pm

***bump***

Dropping the multiple international voice accents that I was going to record for the Fluffer project. Too time intensive. Participants will be able to select only from the following:

Female- sexy
Female- not sexy
Male- sexy
Male- not sexy

The sexy female voices are done and "in the can". (go ahead, I'm ready for your witty retort on that one). As for the male voice-overs, the poll here on eplaya yielded the results I needed to select just one accent that most find... stimulating. Can you guess which one?
