Because in the case of PeTA their ideas are so asinine that tits and ass is about the only way they're going to get their message out.Apollonaris Zeus wrote:Why is it that people have to get naked to make a statement?Bob wrote:

I'll agree there are many more important issues but these nutjobs like to stick banners up on bridges around here messing up traffic. And if it jacks with traffic it gets my time and attention anyway so this is just another logical extension of that.
As for considering them terrorists I've lumped them into that classification for years now.

I forgot your take on the Patriots Act. Can't you please tell me what you feel about it and if Extremist Animal Rights groups should be included in it.Archantael wrote: As for considering them terrorists I've lumped them into that classification for years now.
I would prefer to call them vandals, since I define a terrorist to be exclusionary in their targets.
But first you opinion on the Patriot Act

For me burning man brings me to a more primal meeting with God then traditional church services or organized sirtual retreats. The combination of the natrul setting, the factor of the weather, the experiance of the collective and invidual energy can in my experiance bring close both the divine and demonic; or maybe a better term would be the yin and yang.
The range and depth of emotional and/or spirtual moments on the playa are life altering. We are brought closer to the universe and express that through whatever belief system we use to comprehend the deeper questions of life.
The openness and curiosity of we as participants only increases the sense of joy and understanding that turns a little dusty dirt patch in the middle of nowhere into a model city and society...not that it cant be ugly, cliquesh, and harsh; but it can also be just, equal, and free; in a sense each year we have an opportunity to get a glimpse at a dusty, crazy, very very Human new jerasulam.

No you are a long time member of this community and your opinion does matter especially on one of the most important issues to us that only the Iraq war is of greater importance. But then again, if animals are moreArchantael wrote:My opinion on the Patriot Act is not important. And there's more important issues to attend to than this one. Time to move on....

AZ, the Patriot Act is something I'm more familiar with than most on this board. My current career path is tied to the people who enforce parts of it in a supporting role on a daily basis...and while there are parts of it I think overstep, there are some parts that are sound financial policy and were long overdue changes. In short....I'm split on it politically but personally it's helped pay the bills. That would tip my position to slightly being in favor of it. But just barely.

doesnt make it right, I agree with you Ach - I believe broader invesitgatory powers are required, but also believe that terry stops, and the poweres given are too broad. As you know it is possible for LEO;s to getArchantael wrote:I'm split on it politically but personally it's helped pay the bills. That would tip my position to slightly being in favor of it. phone records
payment histories
credit information
account information
and PHONE TAPS
plus more
all unwarranted by a court - this has to stop. In my opinion it is just another step that gives up civil liberties. Every right we give up is makes the next step easier. We get acclimated to the situation and when it becomes status quo. we lose another liberty, get used to the loss of that one and on and on...
I believe that the constitution and bill of rights is static, obvioulsy things change and laws need to be updated as society changes but privacy, life liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the base.
just my 2 cents

Your point is well made and duely accepted!
As I have stated before, anyone, including environmentalists, animal right groups or anyone taking a position of violence or destruction hurt those movements that are of noble causes. Law that are enacted that generalize groups and destroy the rights of its citizens placing them into oblivious states of non-recognition under the law are anti-democratic and only serve to hurt the nation of which seeks its protected. When checks and balances are in place to protect the citizens from terrorization from corrupt LEOs who use the law to peek into their lifes under the no-warrent period.
If the Roman’s had thought of the potential of such a law, would have St Peter be alive to make his way back to Rome or would he had been hung on a cross? But in his time Roman Citizenship made more friends then enemies which is why they wouldn’t have even thought of such a fascist law.
why do LEOs fight the Manditory Polygraph tests that congress has tried to enact as a way of fighting double spys and infiltrators?????????
Who is next, Street Gangs, Wise Use Groups and Hate Groups? Their terror is well known and recorded as a form of terrorism.

Pretty much the same as the Homeland Security Act in germany in 1938.
A seizure of power by the government in the name of national security.

Wow! That's kind of scary. I knew your government had a reputation for thinking they were the world police, but I had no idea they were so far down the track towards a military state, ie. their ability to override civil liberties and pretty much do whatever the hell they like.
