just wondering if satellite radios will get reception on the playa. it seems like a clear shot to the sky. thanks.

Sad to say that this type of pollution affects the entire surface of the planet. Worst part about it is thats its colorless and odorless.

Yep, the sky is located in the vertical direction, can't miss it. Certainly is a lot of it.

Maybe he's complaining about the "pollution" from Camp Reality bleeding over on the playa. After all for some people part of the enjoyment of Burning Man is turning most of that stuff OFF for an entire week. (Which is tougher than people think it is)

My post is genuine. The pollution from satellites does reach the playa and everywhere else. It IS colorless and odorless. Kinetic brought up a valid point, some of us find camping of ANY sort a welcome relief to noise of mainstream society.

GPS Satellites use radio frequencies and this pollution is there regardless of whether you make use of it or not.

It is also AFAIK not significantly different from that radiated from broadcast radio stations.

...however boys and girls, you might note that for all of the "getting away from the mainstream or default world" talk, there is an awful lot of that on the playa anyway: streets with associated signs, boundaries, pissing matches, rape, theft, creepy people, medical facilities, noise from deejays, vehicles, radio stations, police, fire, public works, utilities, ems, a coffee shop, a city hall, boundaries, unwarranted vehicle searches by non-commissioned personnel(just be firm and tell them NO!), "schools", tax in the form of a ticket, etc...so it ain't much different, infrastructure wise...
