rideshare campmates in Goleta Santa Barbara?

Post by Tiahaar » Thu May 03, 2007 12:39 am

So! Since the main rideshare board for 2007 is yet to be activated I'm sticking this here in case local artsy mech/geeks that I haven't met are looking for a camp to join 'cause I've got openings!

"Captain of the Starship Palomino seeks BRC 2007 crew, looking for 2-3 fun hard working/artsy local queer/friendly males to join up and have a great expedition to the playa. Excellent camp and art base, 12 day trip, drug-free/nonsmoking, hot dusty and naked camping (weather permiting). Be excited and involved, prefer in-hand tickets to skip the will-call line. Wraeththu forever!"

Bonus points if you know who and what the Wraeththu are : )
Someday there will be a Temple Radiant on the playa...

And it's underage too, isn't it?

Just sayin'. We wouldn't want any misunderstandings, would we?

Thatta girl, Suzy. Watch out for us, and we'll watch out for you.

Now get yer underage butt back to work and stop reading e-playa. You've got a ton of money to make before now and late August.

You're not 18 yet Suzy? Were you one of the ones who's turning 18 at the burn?

Sounds like good times Tiaharr. Any insight to what ype of mech geek stuff one could expect to find at your camp? I have a big robot laying dormant up in Goleta that I might find the time to work on for 08. Nothing mechanically spectacular planned for this year. We went with unexplored territory for ourselves and played with fire art, though the mech stuff is more my specialty.

Tiahaar - I looked for you last year but every time I stopped by the Starship Palomino, you were out and about. We are from SB County as well - come see us at jungle camp - usually somewhere about 5:45 and the F street....

The rumor that Barbie Death Camp wants to throw SunshineSuzy a birthday party is completely unfounded. I can see my way clear to wait until they leave and hold it myself. Because I care.

Ah yes thank you Sensei, there's still hope here and there.
Wow, I go off for a few days and my little campmates thread gets visitors!
Hi Mojo sorry to miss you on playa, will come look for jungle camp, great name! And what's this about a robot up here MikeVDS??? Big Robot=Big Fun. Going to be a low-key year at my camp it looks like as so far I am it. There is a new wind turbine and a monster wind-vane/speaker tower plus the DragTrike pedal machine and hopefully lots of el-light color and even a chime tower to play on (which may get out on the open playa instead). Mostly the bus is one big fixit station...when someone is home : ) Dr. Pyro, this year will be the one I must come visit the infamous Barbie Death Camp, birthday parties and eplaya meet/greets and all. Also hi to you SunshineSuzy, hope you get your playa trip in! (LIB is on my radar, its just up the hill from me). As for campmates oh yes male or female is fine we'll all be camping under a pirate rainbow flag : )

I found a birthday party once. but it looked a little used and ...well... kind of deflated. I put it back where I found it.

Crewmates search ongoing

Post by Tiahaar » Mon Jun 18, 2007 10:13 pm

Righty where are the I-want-to-go-to-BurningMan-but-don't-have-a-camp folks here in town? I know you're out there! True the Starship Palomino is a queer place, no smoking or drugs (gasp!) and clothes optional on-playa (woo!) and its a 12-day Aug25-Sept5 trip, but Worth It!! Newbies especially welcome, the first BurningMan is fun to share : ) PM me if interested, only a few more weeks to get ready!!

Oh yeah, I'm at the Santa Barbara Solstice Parade this Saturday June 23rd, come say Hi, and I need 5 pedallers for the StarKrawler tracked vehicle (as of now)!!

Tiahaar, you are a God! I will miss Solstice this year due to a rafting trip in Oregon. Is the crawler going to the playa?

Hi Mojo!! (you flatterer  ) River rafting hmm? You will be getting nice and wet while I'm hot and pedalling my heart out, hope its a great trip! There are those playa planning moments I think "dang I'm putting out enough to take me to the bahamas for a week..." heheh. The crawler is staying home this year, I have a big new trike to take out there instead. Are you getting ready for the playa?

a snag...

Post by Tiahaar » Thu Jul 19, 2007 10:42 pm

Hmm. A nice couple wanted to go with me and bring their friend, met the wife and she seems excellent BRC material. But they are leaving early Friday or Saturday to go to a wedding, and now their friend is not sure he'll go, leaving me with no-one to pack up and journey home with Tuesday, and having their stuff to bring back and drop off. That sounds iffy. Time for a new plan?
