Power Flares!

I got an email from one of my sources about these and picked some up. Pretty cool little light up toys. They are a little pricey but I can lots of applications for art cars or lighting up th etop of a hat for night time prowling.

I picked up a clear, green and red/blue. About the size of a hockey puck and can withstand trucks driving over them.

Am I reading this correctly, that the battery is permanently sealed inside it and can't be charged or replaced? I suppose you could cut it open...

If they're LEDs, then maybe they're banking that your interest will fade before the batteries do.

The silver "dots" on the housing are allen head screws. They run on 3v lithium batteries and can be changed.

Yeah, and looking around online it appears you can get rechargeable CR-123 lithium batteries, too.

Ah, very cool. I guess I was thinking of some of those smaller blinky things that are completely sealed.

They would make great camp marker lights - just mount it to a pole on top of your shade structure.

From what I have heard they are being used to replace traditional road flares and other emergency beacons.

They are very bright and it is almost painful to look directly into the LEDs.

I never thought of one as a camp marker. Great idea. I was just thinking as a night time don't run me over beacon.
