Hey Fallen:
My Mile High Club Camp is trying to budget and plan the booze and mixers for our tiki bar. How much and what type of booze and mixers are you guys hauling out there, if you don't mind me asking. If we have this fairly good sized (8' wide) and well lit bar open for 5 nights, and assuming we are somewhere in the middle between the esplanade and the boonies, how many folks (ball-park) would you plan for?
Any suggestions? Thanks!

In one word, Overkill. Camp members are bringing booze for the bar, The Havana Room is also going to have lots for mixers, typically Caribbean drinks, and tons and tons of Rum. As far as actual numbers go, at the moment I have no idea. When we get word as to where we'll be, we'll let you know. Unfortunately I'm in the dark as far as placement goes at the moment.

Minors can enter, they can dance, they can have fun, but they can't drink and they can't gamble.

If you are bring 1.75L bottles of cheap rum (and other liquids) that should be enough? You can get 1.75L bottles for $10?Teo del Fuego wrote:Thanks for replying, Fallen. Yeah, placement will be a factor. We were thinking about budgeting $400 for booze and mixers, but I just have nothing to compare that figure to.
Personally I bring $200 of booze; 10 good bottles at $20 each. But I have a reputation I need to consider...

If you buy cheap 1.75L of Rum it should be more like $2 a day. A 1.75L of Rum and a 2L of Coke go a long way.MikeVDS wrote:With straight booze I'd think a heavy drinker is going to drink $10 worth a night. So if you want to accommodate 10 big drinkers for 10 nights, you're looking at $1000. Mixers and stuff actually may increase the cost because people can drink a lot more of that stuff than straight alcohol.
But I would also count on more than 10 people a day. Figure 50 * $2? $100 a day, but only for 5-6 days.
I've poured 50 cheap whiskey shots in 10 minutes bartending at BM before. But then the next hour was quiet.

With your permission, I'll post this with credits in the tribe.net site as well, and pass it on to our web guy as well.

Thanks! But I can’t take any credit for it as I pretty much stole the design from a t-shirt, and added a few choice words. If you don’t mind dealing in stolen goods, it’s all yours!
Just say it ‘fell off the truck’.

Umm...that's way short for a public bar. I was with the ePlaya bar last year and I contributed almost that much alone and we had something like 20 campers. I do have a spreadsheet that a friend of mine who has run the Bubble Bar for the past few years put together that helps figure out how much to buy. I can email it to you if you likeTeo del Fuego wrote:Thanks for replying, Fallen. Yeah, placement will be a factor. So, for example, it makes this calculation:
Number of drinks per hour 10
Number of open hours per day 8
Number of days 6
Ounces booze per drink 2
Total number of drinks 480
Total number of ounces 960
Then you decide how much of each type of booze you need in percents and it tells you how many bottles of each to buy.
It's going to be alright.

Would you mind sending that spreadsheet our way as well? Every little bit helps. Thanks Sputnik.

I just read up on this thread and I love the idea. Man... I love a good cigar every now and again. We'll have to wheel The Contraption over there and say hello.
As I was gluing up the plywood up for the rumble seat, when I would make a cut through this old wood (very old, dry 1/8" interior paneling), it would smell exactly like a humidor. Must have been made from the same type of cedar.

Heya, FallenAngel...... yea, we definitely gotta get over and have a good Cigar with ya....... *makes a mental note to pick up cigars....*
If ya get a chance, stop by the B(O)(O)by Bar and have a nice Homebrew.... or whatever ya prefer........
btw.... I made some changes to the original spreadsheet that Sput got from the BubbleBar that will calculate who is bringing what (for booze and mixers) and deduct it from your total calulation, so you know where you are at and what ya still need....... you are welcome to it.....
(thanks, Sput, Bigbluedoggy, and Dave)... and yes, I too, so want to stop at the BubbleBar/Destiny lounge again this year!....

AHA!! Mozy beat me to it...
FallenAngel,
If you don't have time to sift through all the blah blah blah (which can actually get very interesting at times), then skp to the bottom of page 15 and you'll see a pic of how this thing looks currently.
