Hey it is me!!

Post by Mr. Gambleputty » Wed Jul 11, 2007 2:25 pm

I am Johann Gambleputty ..of Ulm , live in Karlsruhe and I am realizing a test version of "the cone" at the moment in Lacuna City - an artist camp in Karlsruhe , germany.. we (me and my friend Many Well)will build "the cone" as well on the playa this year and we are still looking for support. we also still have some free tickets to give.. -- we are also looking for support regarding material transportion of material from Salt Lake City to BLC on august 17th..
if you have a lot of spare-time and want to help us as well preconstructing parts of the cone in salt lake city from august 2nd to august 17th -- you are definitely welcome.. of course we also need support at the bm from august 17th...
if you come from salt lake city to bm and rent a truck or a big trailer anyways we can maybe rent a bigger truck or trailer together..
please don t hesitate to write - we re so excited !!!

So, you want folks to design and build it for you as well?

I'm gonna say they got the design part down pretty good.

Looks like they are trying to recruit builders.

Cut him some slack Iso. Have you looked at the site? They have a nice video of a functional scale model of this thing. It's pretty cool. Looks like they already have the design and materials ready to go, they're just looking for some rideshare type help to get it out there and also looking for people that want to help setup the project.
The post might not come across clearly seeing how english is not the first language here.

Impressive project! Thank you very much for sharing it with us now and on the playa. Unfortunately, Im about 500 miles away from Salt Lake City.

Yeah, it does sorta look like a Waffle Cone. Whassup with those germanic-types* and waffles?

*(I was assuming the Belgians of Waffle fame either spoke German or Flemish and were not of the French-persuasion..not that there's anything wrong with that.)

You might get in touch with either art placement or the folks who built the waffle last year. I understand the ran into some unforseeen issues getting their stuff out to the playa. Asking them for input might save you from encountering some of the same problems - including building and set up.

And yeah, I guess you can't fault anyone for making the effort to recruit help in building a project. Certainly it's a huge step above this crew http://www.evolutionarycenter.net/campwishlist.html who seem to be sitting around asking the universe to manifest their wants and wishes....
Dear Universal Life-Force Energy,

We the creators of the Evolutionary Center Camp, in order to make a more perfect communion, ask that you provide for us the network and communications capacity to have the following Blessings in our Sacred Space:

Amazing people to do more Workshops for the Resource Dome for 2007!

Oooh, oooh, and Bio- fueled Art Cars

Kitchen Supplies and a big Yurt

Monetary Contributions to make this camp better than ever

Swamp Coolers and other things to keep stuff chilled

Useful sustainable products from Socially responsible companies

A full on Water Truck, and/or Water Trailer would be nice

Additional Solar Power Systems and Supplies

Other Alternative Energy Systems to Use and Display

Deliciously Comfortable Furniture to rest our bums

Dome Builders to help setup and takedown domes and Scaffolding

A nice Dome Cover (32' water/wind proof) to keep us from getting crispy

Tree Planting Tarps (Bushpro.ca) to aid in shade structure reinforcement

Shelving for the Green Resource Dome

Lighting Materials (LED) and other illuminations for beauty and night magic

Sound, Subwoofers, and a Crossover for reverberating expressions

and probably more that we haven't realized yet, Sacred Source, and so we ask that you please enlighten us to more of what we may need to provide the most amazing and life-changing Camp Community that any of us have ever experienced, or participated in creating!!!

Wow.... are those people serious Iso??

That last line just kills me...

And the "Unclear on the Concept" Award for the year goes to...

A bit (ok, waaayy) too far west to help Gambleputty, but I look forward to seeing it out on the Playa. I may even have some time to help setup out there if I get any spare time from setting up the Lamplighter area.

To get in touch with Utah burners, have you tried these forums?

http://tribes.tribe.net/element11

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/element11 ... =154023541

http://www.element11.org/

Element 11 is the Utah regional burn, E-11 is sodium, salt, Great Salt Lake, Salt Lake City, see?

Damn! You mean to tell me that all along all I had to do was call upon the Universal Life-Force Energy and all my on-playa wishes will come true? Ok...I gotta try it. My wish list is short.

Dear Universal Life-Force Energy:

I need two tickets and gas money to cover the 3600 miles from KC to Black Rock City and back. 3600 miles divided by 16 (16 mpg) at $3.50 per gallon means I need $787.50 for gas and 2 $280 tickets so if I can be gifted $1347.50 I'm doing all right.

I need $100 USD for food / water / and replenishing my camp supplies. Or maybe a bit more for some nice playa wear...my old stuff is just plain wore out.

I need help finding things I could volunteer or help out with so my lack of funds and the crimp that made on my planning would keep me from making it out there and just being another spectator. There's got to be things I could do that offer variety, fun, and some challenges tossed in that I can get into this close to the event.

And while I'm making my petition, I need creative help making a dress and getting "proper" wedding attire for both of us. Can you help me find a dress and heels that would properly fit a size 14 foot? And I need to find someone that could actually perform the ceremony....one that's legal and would be recognized when we get home.

I could also use some el-wire to decorate two bikes with for decoration and safety.

And last but not least, I need help landing a good IT job in Minneapolis that would start one week after Burning Man. I won't have a job in KC upon my return but I may be able to take care of this myself...so I guess it's optional. A little help packing up and hauling our stuff from KC to Minneapolis would be nice but I think I can arrange that. What I really need is to find people that could show me around Minneapolis so I'm not hopelessly lost for months or an introduction to the regional BM community there would be good too.

I hope oh great Universal Life-Force Energy that I'm not asking too much and that I can be granted my wishes.

(It's got about a snowball's chance in he** of succeeding but hey, if the original people that Badger quoted believed in it enough to take time to post it, maybe there's something to it. So I'll give it a shot. Who knows...maybe the Universal Life-Force Energy could influence those TV folks to turn my story into a reality show pilot and fund the whole thing...anything is possible! Might as well try and cash in on the drama if I can!)

I think he's trying to be inclusive and invite people to participate in his process.

Is that so evil?

Traditional wedding colors and it's for a narrow foot.

You're welcome. Utah has a lot of energetic burners, I hope you find the help you need. I'm up in Ogden and have no transportation down to SLC so I'm of little help, sorry!
