ideas for feeding that many people please. shared meals? when? how often?

IMO the best idea is everyone fend for themselves. If people want they'll bring enough to share a meal with a group of their choice. That's the simplest solution for someone who's not experienced with feeding that many.

Free range breakfast and lunch, evening meal at sunset, otherwise, starve. Special needs? Serve yourself.

Post a schedule of times for each meal. But wait! who wants to be on a schedule? I think you have a problem.
Just fix it up and feed whoever is there, after that, there are lots of people just cruising around who would be delighted to sample your cullinary delights. For those who miss meal time, fend for themselves.

How much time do people want to put into cooking, dinning, cleaning up, etc? Do people want to be on a schedule? What types of food do they want to eat? What sort of facilities do you have? There are many different ways to do it. The one I mentioned before is easiest, but if you want to do cooking you'll need to supply more information to get a decent response.

I feed that number. It just depends on how loosely or tightly structured you want to be. I plan for one major meal per day (dinner) and I tell people it is usually ready around sundown becuase people seldom wear watches. I also put out afternoon munchies such as cheese, sausage & crackers, salsa & chips, etc. That way the cooking & cleaning only happens once per day. We do breakfast on your own 'cause you never know what time of day that will be for any given person.

Get a big pot and make some stew. People can bring what they want to add to it, kind of like Stone Soup or Mulligan Stew.

TSC makes a number of large-animal feeders, which would make getting a serving loads easier with such a large mob. Remember that declaring at least one "Soylent Green Day" will extend your resources AND aid in the disposal of any errant ravers that wander into camp.

Do every man for himself. If you want provide and oven and/or a stove. Thats it! Everyone brings there own pots and pans. The problem with community pots and pans is that people have been known to use them, and not clean them. So the next person gets stuck cleaning up someone elses mess.

If you are a very close group of friends a community meals can work. The problem is that people never ever stick to a schedule. I have seen many campers become the camp cook, cause no one will show up for their shifts. If you are all good friends, and wouldn't let the other people starve it will work. Otherwise everyone makes their own meals.
