Lessons learned

No matter how kick ass things were last year, do not try and duplicate the experience. You can't force it, you gotta let it just happen.

Like an addiction; you keep trying to chase that fist high, the first hit... never quite the same.

I think your login name offers better advice than your post.

Sometimes; when it's tight; you gotta force it.

Biggest virgin lesson

Post by asp3 » Fri Jul 20, 2007 6:47 pm

1. Do your prep work off the playa.

2. Always take extra water out on the playa.

As virgins last year we were fairly well prepared overall according to our campmates. We did however end up finishing projects (el-wire sewing, decoration preparation, etc...) on the playa. There was some pressure to get it done so that we could enjoy it while we were there. This year we'll only have setup and takedown to deal with for the most part (I hope.) I think we missed out on some experiences when we were hanging out at camp working on projects rather than participating on the playa.

The extra water came from waiting out at the airport that was about 45 minutes longer than we expected. We walked out there so it was not long enough to walk back for water, but too long to be without it.
