Kinetic Sculpture Racing Theme Camp
Kinetic Sculpture Racing Theme Camp
There will be a Kinetic Sculpture Racing Theme Camp at Burning Man
in 2007! Several veteran racers are already signed up, and more have
expressed interest. New recruits to KSR are certainly welcome, as are
all fans of the sport -- Glorious Spectators being a vital part of KSR!
Considering how much crossover there already is between BM and KSR,
a Kinetic Kamp is a natural. And with the Green theme for 2007, it seems
particularly appropriate to give this human powered sport/hobby/art-form/
behavioral-disorder its own Theme Kamp.
Kinetic Sculpture Racing consists of human powered mutant vehicles that
are raced over land, sand, mud and water. Most are based on bicycle parts,
but there are also many that are highly sophisticated. Some have “bodiesâ€

Count me in - while I may not get a chance to hit too many races this year, I'm breaking ground on a series of geodesic domes this week!... er.... breaking snow? Breaking ice?. Anyway - I might be too busy building my house to get a good machine up and ready to race. But I'll certainly have something to bring to ride the playa.
Big tires that can ride over slimy mud.... should leave minimal imprints on the playa, too!

Yes, that's what I did with "Henry Ford Goes Surfing" at BM 2006 -- I left the pontoon and
the paddle wheel off.
But I left the pontoons on "Pear County Chopper", since that Machine is so light anyway,
and the pontoons are the "exhaust pipes" on the bike. I used this one as daily transportation
all over BRC.

Hey Elliot!!
Some friends and I have already decided to camp with Burning Silicon this year - BUT, certainly count me in for all the KSR-related festivities at BM, sounds like alot of fun!
Hopefully my first ever machine will be ready for the May race - otherwise a non-floating version will certainly be ready for the burn!

Yes, indeed -- those web sites replace the one I listed at the very top several months ago.
And the Kinetic Sculpture Racing Camp will be at...
...4:30 and Coral Reef.
We have been assigned 75 feet by 100 feet. That should be plenty. At the moment, it looks like we have 20+ people with close to ten Kontraptions. Anyone else who are active in Kinetic Sculpture Racing and would like to camp with us...?
