Are there places to get firewood at playa?

Post by nasha » Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:01 pm

Dear fellow burners,

Can anybody enlighten me on the subject of playa firewood?
We are working on an installation project that will involve using burn barrels
(http://dreamgarden.deneg.net).
I remember I heard about some people getting firewood at Center Camp (presumably that firewood was allocated for installations and theme camps).
I am currently checking with folks at Burning Man but wanted to check if anybody heard anything similar?
Please let us know if you did!
Best,

Natasha

Nope! No firewood for sale. Nothing for sale at all, other than ice and coffee. I suppose there might have been some sort of arrangements made for a particular piece of art, but it's by far the exception rather than the rule.

You should count on arranging to bring in all of your own supplies.

The camp store near center camp should have some, along with bug spray and other camping necessities.

Yup, but remember the Camp Store doesn't take Visa or MasterCard. They only take American Express.

And be sure to find someone to haul your ashes, cause you can't leave them there.

Natasha -- if you're in contact with the art department (aka Artery) about your installation ask them about firewood. Otherwise, use the Reno yellow pages.

That truck Raoul has is so obvious. I just don't know how he gets away with it. Nice guy though...after you pay him. His brother runs a water truck if anyone is looking for some semi potable water.

The Black Rock National Forest always has trees available for the cutting. Don't forget your chainsaw.

Or bring your own wood. It's a one-way trip.

Don't worry, all the wood has been allocated. Where would you like it delivered?

I keep feeling like I should be whacking hands with a twelve inch ruler, but really, this is too much fun. Sigh, Bad Maggie, Bad!

always happy to entertain, you know, and of course we are not going to burn anything directly on the playa (all of our barrels are elevated and meet the requirements of the site you quote.)

Most of the rest where playing with you. Sorry it’s a new bee thing

You must have the ability to bring and remove everything you need for your projects.

Coffee and Ice and Waste (you all forgot that one they want real money for what they do.) are the only pay for on demand services.

You also have medical, rangers, BLM and Law enforcement services out there

There might a some wood available under the Man after the first day!

But it will be in limited supply and you would have to remove it before other people torched it!
