Seven Years Ago...

Post by Entropian » Sun Jul 29, 2007 1:38 am

Hi all! It's been seven years since I was last a citizen of BRC. I've lived there in two of its incarnations, and yearn to return! To be exiled from there to this life for so long has been a harsh punishment, indeed. I enjoy the production and appreciation of film and music (electronic/urban). I am Discordian at heart. Most of all, I'm into a community of like-minded souls of which I am having a hard time finding in the Seattle Area... I hope to return to my home on the flats....

there are regionals, but no idea what the seattle area one is like. a large number of people still come from there so its a good chance for hooking up. no idea about like interests though.

If you come you will find the discord highly removed from the event. Seven years is a long time. It is a theme park these days. Stop by the tech pavilion and trade show under the Man.

I suppose you can still burn things but even that is highly regulated, inspected, observed, permits issued, revoked etc.

I think the Vogons took over.

Release parties? Trade Shows? Tech Pavilion? Oh my....

Are they going to strap me down and recite corporate poetry to me?

I fear our worst nightmares have come true....
Please tell me that you guys are just joking...

I would've gone to BRC to get away from all this Redmond commercialism.

I exaggerate because it makes my imaginary suffering feel more epic, but it is still fun.

Less Mad Max and more Disney-esque, but still an E-ticketâ„¢

BM is no longer dangerous but there is some jack-assery.

the release party is no big deal, just a bunch of marketing execs who enjoy a chance to feel cool and trendy. best thing about them is the free drinks at the bar in the tech pavillion. i think cisco is even planning on a raffle for some high-end switch router.
