Help! Coming from UK and no RV's :(

Hi all
Me and my family are flying to San Francisco from the UK for Burning Man and I can't find an RV to hire anyway, I realise I've left it too late but any advise would be much appreciated. I've tried around 12 differrent companies so far....:'(

Keep an eye on www.craigslist.org and check the RV section. Most are for sale, but I've seen rentals in there as well. You might also try the Sacramento, Tahoe/Reno craigslist pages as well and pick up the RV on the way.

A friend on another message board suggested checking out RV rentals in Las Vegas. As he explained it, not only were rentals available, but were significantly less expensive, which more than made up for the additional fuel/travel costs of a few hours' longer drive.

The distance from LV to BRC is over 600 miles.If 10-12 hours of driving counts as a"few"then a good option and as trilobyte points out perhaps your only option.

I still have had no luck but will be checking out the LV option tonight even though our flight goes to San Fran - we've got our hearts set on going!

any more advise would be great.

If you just can't get an RV, buy a big tent, ice chest and camp stove, rent a big van and come anyway. Or check out the Green Tortise.

We have an RV rented in Los Angeles that we can not use. We would be happy to switch the rental to your name. It is a 29 foot rv with an on board generator, and it sleeps six. It also has a roll out dining area. let us know if you are interested.

We have a perfect BM RV for sale. Everything works (need to change oil in the generator). Sleeps 6. About 24 ft. long. 1983 with ~ 87000 miles. 4 new tires, new fridge and much more. Asking $2500.

You could buy and then resell here to another burner(?)

Here is an option. Rent a 26 foot u Haul. cost for a week less then $700.00 go to home depot in the truck. buy generator (4000watt) buy portable air conditioner, also get a few 4x8 sheets ply wood, 2x4 bracing, couple hinges, skill saw, nails... etc. Maybe a few tarps, rebar stakes, bundles of good rope, small sledge hammer... 5, 5 Gallon gas cans. all that might cost $1,000.00 Now ya got your own rv,. use plywood to make a wall and hinges to make a door, setup airconditioner in wall, vent wall near top. Probably a lot more you might need and want, but it will cost 50% of what the rv rental would be. or some other variation on this THEME...

No, actually it's just under 500 miles and about 9 hours or a little less, not counting stops. RV's are much less expensive in LV, just dont tell them where you are going.
