(excuse me for cross-posting from another board but...)
I'm sitting here reading this Tribe, and ePlaya and all sorts of other boards and it dawns on me that for more than a few years there's AWAYS been questions and pleas by folks asking "Hey! Where can I hang between Reno and Black Rock once I get away from the airport?" or "I'm arriving from Bejing and I have no idea what to do once I land in Reno. Any suggestions?" and for years Fred Hagemeister has been THE man to put his home and property up to hundreds - no THOUSANDS- of these people over the years. Opening his home. Coordinationg ride-shares, getting people and equipment to the playa, establishing a small but viable international camp of sorts, etc., etc.
And so, this year Fred's house caught fire. A fire that resulted in substantial property loss and damage to Fred. Loss to a man that has served the Burningman 'community' above and beyond what any sane person could ever ask for or expect.
And....
...what I'm noticing is........ that.... no one......
........seems to be asking...........
"Hey, how the fuck is Fred doing and what (finally) might he need from US?"
And ya know, I gotta say that I think that really, really sucks horse cock.
So, hey! Where's the LOVE for the Burningman Hostel?????

Things seem to be under control at the hostel according to the blog on their website. Sounds like there are a number of people who have volunteered to help Fred (aka Hagey) out. Of note, it seems the hostel is operating more as a camp with members rather than as a last minute place where people can randomly drop in.
All in all, things seem to be under control, which is something I would not have said at this time last year, or the year before.
ETA: Which doesn't really answer your question, but perhaps people have asked, just not out in public.

It's going to be alright.
