San Francisco Bay Bridge CLOSED ENTIRE LABOR DAY WEEKEND
San Francisco Bay Bridge CLOSED ENTIRE LABOR DAY WEEKEND
FYI, a friend just passed this too me yesterday. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f ... .DTL&tsp=1
The link indicates the SF/Oakland Bay bridge will be closed from Friday night to Tuesday morning on Labor Day weekend(the end of burningman). Doesn't matter so much for getting out there, but should make getting back even more unpleasant.
Fortunately for me, I'll be staying a few extra days with DPW, but this info will be important to many people.

Easy Fix Detour
This is only an issue if you're in SF or on the Peninsula. Getting to the Golden Gate is relatively quick and easy by taking CA 37 across to 101. It takes less than 20 minutes. Pick it up in Vallejo just as you come over that last hill that presents you with the Bay Area in it's full glory. It's Hwy 37 to Santa Rosa. The only possible problem is if there is raceway traffic from Infineon, but as of today there is nothing scheduled for September 3. Once you hit 101, it's a straight shot to the city.

Well, I guess that's better than having it cave in unexpectedly.

Ya gotta be careful who you invite, tho... ours is the party where if ya can't walk a str8 line when thoroughly toasted, ya shouldn't oughta be there...
We *did* set up a gourmet dinner at the top of one of the towers once. THAT was fun, getting everything up the ladders/cables. Got chilly in the evening, tho...
Oh. Darn. You didn't hear that here. Please to ignore this. Nothing to see here...

Actually Hwy 37 hits the 101 at Novato, not Santa RosaClar-i-ty wrote:This is only an issue if you're in SF or on the Peninsula. 80 West -> (Vallejo) 37 West To Novato -> 101 South to SF

If you look for Hwy 37 to Santa Rosa you'll be lost like a sheep!!! I think it's marked San Rafael coming from Vallejo.
(I should remember this - I used to commute this way - sure, it was 20 years ago, but who's counting???)
Ya go across the flats, go by Infineon, go across another set of flats, and 101 is right there.
And remember the toll on the GGB is more than the bay bridge.

580 goes to San Rafael, not 37. I work here in Novato, I think I know.

Just take 37, it only goes one place.
