Generally, a fact is something that is the case, something that actually
exists, or something that can be verified according to an established
standard of evaluation. There is a range of other uses, depending on the
context. Philosophers and scientists are interested in facts because of
their relation to truth.
A word is a unit of language that carries meaning and consists of one or
more morphemes which are linked more or less tightly together, and has
a phonetical value.
The word fact derives from the Latin Factum, and was first used in English
with the same meaning: "a thing done or performed", a use that is now
obsolete.
Understanding is a psychological process related to an abstract or
physical object, such as, person, situation, or message whereby one is
able to think about it and use concepts to deal adequately with that object.
Any non-trivial true statement about reality is necessarily an abstraction
composed of a complex of objects and properties or relations. For
example, the fact described by the true statement "Paris is the capital city
of France" implies that there is such a place as Paris, that there is such a
place as France, that there are such things as capital cities, as well as that
France has a government, that the government of France has the power
to define its capital city, and that the French government has chosen Paris
to be the capital, that there is such a thing as a "place" or
a "government", etc..
Understanding is the association of the relationships between implications
(conceptualized), and anothers.

In the most basic sense, a scientific fact is an objective and verifiable
observation; in contrast with a conjecture or theory, which is intended to
explain or interpret facts.
"One understands a reasoning, an argument, or a language if one can
consciously reproduce the information content conveyed by the message."
the process by which "established fact" becomes recognized and accepted as such;

whether and to what extent "fact" and "theoretic explanation" can be
considered truly independent and separable from one another;

to what extent are "facts" influenced by the the mere act of observation;

and
to what extent are factual conclusions influenced by history and
consensus, rather than a strictly systematic methodology.

At low doses, hallucinatory effects occur, including walls that seem to

entheogenic, often catalyzing intense spiritual experiences. For example,
in the Marsh Chapel Experiment, which was run by a graduate student at
Harvard Divinity School under the supervision of Timothy Leary, almost
all of the graduate degree divinity student volunteers who received
psilocybin reported profound religious experiences. (A brief video about
the Marsh Chapel experiment can be viewed here http://www.yoism.org/?q=node/52 .)

"But further down, we found 16 trees that had remained where
they had grown some eight million years ago and that are very well
preserved," Pusztai said.

Catching a glimpse of these ancient tree trunks, which look like they
belong on the set of a science-fiction film, requires descending about 60
metres (200 feet) into a 3,500-square-metre (37,670-square-foot) large
open mine.

All that is left of the trees is their trunks, two to three metres in diametre
and six metres in height, although the original taxodiums must have
reached to between 30 to 40 metres.

"The trunks were preserved in their original form and material," said
Miklos Kazmer, the director of the paleontology department at the Loran
Eotvos Natural Science University in Budapest. During the Miocene period,
which began over 10 million years ago, the region was covered by a giant
lake with muddy and marshy shores, Lake Pannon, he added.

"The exceptional state of preservation of the trees is due to a sudden
sandstorm which covered the forest (with sand) up to a height of six
metres," Kazmer said.

The highest ranking Ancient Egyptians grew hair on their chins which was often dyed or hennaed (reddish brown) and sometimes plaited with interwoven gold thread. A metal, false beard or postiche, which was a sign of sovereignty, was worn by queens as well as kings. This was held in place by a ribbon tied over the head and attached to a gold chin strap, a fashion existing from about 3000 B.C. to 1580 B.C.

I want to have a nice big ol beard someday. I would prefer a silvery metal to make it pretty.

I read there was a female pharoah once that had to wear a fake beard.
I can't open this thread as much as I used to cause sometimes I can't sleep so good after.
