Poetry Slam at Silicon Village

Post by Princess Teacup » Wed Aug 08, 2007 11:42 am

I shall be hosting a Poetry Slam the first Monday (the night of the Eclipse) at the Silicon Village (Silicon Valley locals camp), and I NEED poets! This is my first year attending the Burn and I am getting my camp fees waived for doing this, so please help a poor virgin out!

Please contact me off-channel at werd2thenerd AT yahoo if you're interested, or call (fur oh ate mine sex oh fur vibe mine oh).

Oh, if anyone is curious as to MY identity (considering this is my first post), I usually perform under the name of Tristissima (I have 7 others, including my name on these boards), I've been slamming in San Jose for, garsh, six and a half years, and I was on the Santa Clara University Collegiate Team 2004 and the Palo Alto Team 2005 and 2006.

Thanks guys!

we have many couches for people to lounge in + a fire
you can play for the Vamp Camp Bar [located next to my stage]

Small daytime performance space on Esplanade available

Post by Andy Wing » Sun Aug 12, 2007 7:35 pm

Camp Videogasm (http://www.videogasm.com/burningman/2007/)
has lots of nightime stuff going on, but during the day our
projectors are off. The Spray Dogs are doing their fabulous
stenciling, but they won't be in the shade structure all day.
So bring on your acoustic ensemble, poetry or whatever
you want to share on the main drag of BRC!

We have a 20 x 20 shade structure right on the Esplanade
in Snowflake Village available for small acts and performers.
If need be there is a *small* generator/PA as well.

Please contact me or Ed directly about scheduling your
act: spam2devnull at yah00 d0t com or

LimeLight Theater @ The Steam Stage

Post by HappyBoy » Mon Aug 13, 2007 11:57 pm

Hi:
We're puttin together the performance schedule for our Steam Stage at Burning Man. Our art car camp is the NeverWas Haul (check us on Tribe.net) -- this year we're having a Victorian/Vaudeville performance stage on the Esplanade that we're booking for.

Looking for interestulous acts for a 30 - 30+ minute slot on Tue - Fri evenings -- thrust stage is 8 x 12 with a really nice Victorian proscenium behind it and semi-authentic limelight footlights. Also have a PA system, 4 mics and can play backing tracks (CD & MP3). Follow spotlight provided as well. Irish tunes, Victorian chaos, burlesque, magic, storytelling, klownz, circus stuff, contortion, juggling -- anything with a Vaudeville slant particularly encouraged -- all considered...

Call for DJs: the Smoochdome needs you!

Post by notthatdave » Tue Aug 14, 2007 12:19 pm

What has two turntables, a CD mixer, and 15 sofas? The Smoochdome!

For those of you who haven't been there, the Smoochdome is the ideal place for smooching on the playa... Why is this so important? Well, say you just met somebody you like a lot, and you want to take your, uh, experience to another level, but you aren't ready to go back to your tent yet... What do you do? You go to the Smoochdome, make out, and then you can go home or elsewhere to get really intimate...

This year, we've added a DJ set up to the Smoochdome (including turntables, a CD mixer, and great speakers), so we're looking forward to having DJs spin chill/lounge/downtempo music to enhance the smooching in the dome. We want to have you spin!

We're working on a schedule now, so if you'd like to reserve a spot, email me at [email protected]. Or, if you can't be bothered to plan anything that's going to happen on the playa, just show up at the dome and ask. We'll be at 3:00 and Arctic, right behind Image Node.

See you on the playa!
