In a secular context, mindfulness is attracting increasing interest among
western psychiatrists as a non-pharmacological means of dealing with
anxiety and depressive mood states.

Recent research points to a useful therapeutic role for mindfulness in a
number of medical and psychiatric conditions, notably chronic pain and
stress. In fact, recent research suggests that mindfulness-based cognitive
therapy can be used to prevent suicidal behavior from recurring in cases
of severe mental illness (Journ. Clin. Psych. 62(2) 2006).

Practitioners of Hakomi look at people as self-organizing systems,
organized psychologically around core memories, beliefs, and images;
this core material expresses itself through habits and attitudes that make
people individuals.

what is irrelevant, superfluous, or inconsequential?

with perception organs, there's a direct range of experience...

and there's the reality of a mankind with capacities precariously extended
through turning found chemistry into kinetic energy...

there's vast fields mechanistically made of use...

and a fount of enabling matter sucked from the crusts...

you might be able to match bowls...

but can you match the force and power of compressed life?

even as modernity expands it's ability to consume it,
it dwindles...

it has led them, it has carried them, it has transfixed them into a conundrum

and the longer the course is held, the harder the wall will hit

False Compromise

If one does not understand a debate, it must be "fair" to split the
difference, and agree on a compromise between the opinions. But one
side is very possibly wrong, and in any case one could simply suspend
judgment. Journalists often invoke this fallacy in the name of "balanced" coverage.

___

Bertrand Russell, in a lecture on logic, mentioned that in the sense of
material implication, a false proposition implies any proposition. A student
raised his hand and said "In that case, given that 1 = 0, prove that you
are the Pope". Russell immediately replied, "Add 1 to both sides of the
equation: then we have 2 = 1. The set containing just me and the Pope
has 2 members. But 2 = 1, so it has only 1 member; therefore, I am the
Pope."

Appeal To Complexity

If the arguer doesn't understand the topic, he concludes that nobody understands it. So, his opinions are as good as anybody's.

Doctors and nurses often administer sedatives to patients in order to dull
the patient's anxiety related to painful or anxiety-provoking procedures.
They increase tractability and compliance of children or troublesome or
demanding patients.
Conformism is a term used to describe the suspension of an individual's
self-determined actions or opinions in favor of obedience to the mandates
or conventions of one's peer-group, or deference to the imposed norms of
a supervening authority.

newness in the way it's presented...

dear god, how they make me yearn to break things...

to assault their false sence of security, nestled in thier lives,
they are likened parasitic intrusions into earthskin

kicking mirrors off cars... thrashing... crashing...

the irrefutable absoluteness of reality
coalesced in the wrenching and sundering of non essential

i do not wish them to fear life...

but, my, how i long to rattle the foundations of the abomination

to loose righteous spite

to level

to burn

ah...

but to revel in destruction
at the cost of confinement from further

thus, surely, i waive the action off

i storm the ground

i clear my mind

and i toss my hate a bone

[quote][quote="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20380094/wi ... ?gt1=10316"]The ingredient Americans consume and excrete the most was caffeine...

The science behind the testing is simple. Nearly every drug — legal and
illicit — that people take leaves the body. That waste goes into toilets and
then into wastewater treatment plants.

“Wastewater facilities are wonderful places to understand what humans
consume and excreteâ€
