Handfasting is a betrothal or wedding ritual in which the couple's clasped hands are tied together by a cord or ribbon — hence the phrase "tying the knot". The tying of the hands may be done by the officiant of the ceremony, by the wedding guests, or by the couple themselves.

Yahoo! It's time to get married at BM '07. I will be providing a
special space in our city for spiritual or real weddings. The weddings
are on a first come/first serve basis and arrangements must be prearranged for a legal ceremony.

Also on Thursday at 4:00 pm there will be a "Kissing Dance" with
Rose Vodka Punch and group wedding to follow. This is a revival
of a performance that happened in 2001. Hope to SEE you there.
Wax lips will be provided for the first 100 people.
