Theme Camp Map... work in progress

Post by bigbluedoggy » Thu Aug 16, 2007 9:02 pm

Hi all,
I started to lay all the theme camps into my BRC layout and rapidly realized it is quite time consuming and not really too accurate, as camps may be on different sides of the street. I looked at it as a jigsaw puzzle of sorts, trying to fit all the puzzle pieces together. Knowing that many camps are actually very irregularly shaped, I am sure that I am wrong in many places. But if you have any interest in seeing the project in its current state, you can look at it here: http://destinylounge.outtatheway.com/BRCLayout/ It's the pdf that says Theme Camps in the title. You can zoom way in and it holds up well. I started near our camp and worked out and have gotten to Center Camp. If enough people are interested I may try to find the time to complete it. Your feedback welcome (flames not so much :-P)

There are a bunch of little changes I would make. Based on the history of where camps tend to end up.

Example:
I would switch Death Guild and Space Cowboys. Death Guild has no real need for a corner, and Space Cowboys was on a corner last year.
Playawaste Raiders and Megaton Bar and Grill

So with the release of the most excellent 2007 BRC GoMap, I will now retire my small project. Time is running short and I don't have the time, and it looks like my guesses were way off anyway. Thanks for the positive notes I got. Figured I should at least share my little hobby! See you all soon!

A worthy attempt.

I was considering the same project and realized that until camps are given sequential street addresses, mapping will be an unruly bitch.

How cool would it be to get BRC in Google Maps?

see you at the Burn!

Why not use a spreadsheet? Col A is time, Row 1 is Espl-L, do it in five minute increments. It may not be a geographically correct map, but it would still be a good reference map. I think google has on-line spreadsheets that can be shared.
