Father (55) and Son (18) looking to participate in a theme camp or a place to but an RV in a camp. Can provide donation and manpower. I plan on renting an RV and will pay for the gas for the trip up there and back. Basically we looking for some folks to hang out and share. I feel ill equipped to go it alone and want to hook up with people who know what they are doing. My son went to Burning Man (without permission) when he was 15 and has not stopped talking about it since. We live in Malibu but will meet you anywhere to join the group.

You may also want to check the LA Burners tribe over on tribe.net. It's a very active message board with most participants being folks who live in the LA metro area.
Even if you don't connect with other travelers before the trip, don't worry about going in alone. You'll be able to park your RV and set up camp anywhere in the city that's not already taken. In no time you'll have neighbors and make some friends, and should you find yourself in need of something I'd be surprised if someone can't help you out (within reason, of course).
If you haven't already done so, read through the Survival Guide and make sure you've got the basics covered.
Good luck connecting with a camp and getting ready for the adventure!
Cheers!

For real --
Last year it was just me and a friend, and we camped out next to random people in the middle of random space who were also singles and pairs and the occasional small group and it was a completely great experience. On the playa, everyone bonds very, very quickly. Don't sweat it. You will feel welcome and at home right away...
And as for your son going to BM without permission @15 -- fun. That's a story. I'm doing some radio documentary work. You think you guys could stop by to be interviewed sometime? I'm running Radio Understanding (89.5) on the 7:30 plaza, and I'll be around usually 11:00-200, and 5:00-8. I'd love to get the story down. :)

If I was to stop using the subjunctive, would anyone notice?

Hello !
Never fear, it is an awesome experience to share within families as well!
My son gave me my first ticket and then complained when I brought my younger son the next year.
Our camp will welcome you with love.
