I use baggies for freakin' everything for camping too...

I have come to be quite a fan of Mix1 food drinks (mix1life.com). They need fridgie once they're opened but are shelf food until that point. They're best cold, but still pretty good cool. I keep a couple in my desk at work for days when i have no time or inclination to eat, 15 grams of protein per 11 oz bottle.
In my desk they stay cool enough that i don't bother fridging them to drink, but on the playa i think they'd need to be fridgied or else buried in quite a bit of insulation. I haven't tried one warm, but i think they'd be kinda gross. A pal said the lime flavor was "too limey, too tangy" for her, but to me too much lime is like too much garlic. *grin* The mango is darn tasty, i haven't tried the berry flavor.
They only came out this spring, so as yet are not playa-tested, but i've found that most good desk food is prob pretty good playa food (with the obvious exception of really melty stuff. I'm crazy about Clif brand's Mojo bars and their Builder bars, both of which i'm perfectly happy to lick off the wrapper if needed.

If you do melon or other sliced fruit, try squeezing a little lime juice over it, makes a nice zest, and some people like to chop in some mint leaves or (i haven't tried this one) cilantro.

In closing:
ziploc bags are your friend!
I'm just trying not to be liveMOOP...

Civil rights: use 'em or lose 'em!
