Desirable Real Estate
Desirable Real Estate
This will be my first Burning Man, and I'll most likely be showing up early early on Monday so I figure I will have a great pick of available real estate. Where is the best place to set up camp (i.e. close to necessities/entertainment)?

Just make sure you get line of site to the nearest porta potty, that way you can run to it when the line gets short. Nothing worse than needing to go, walking all the way to the porta potty and finding out there's a 45 minute wait. With line of site, you can dart off when the line is unusually low. As well when the the porta potty sucker-outer company truck comes, you can be the first to take a nice clean dump.

Sorry, Burp!, I disagree. The last thing I want is to be within A) smelling distance and B) hearing distance of all those slamming doors. I know, not the same as line of sight, but not far from it.
Why don't you shoot for somewhere on the d-e streets, between 4:30 and 7:30? That'll put you sorta middle-ish, not too far from anything, not too close. And then check out the rest to see what you wanna do next year.
Assuming there aren't white-out conditions preventing you from seeing anything, of course.

Shhh...... you are breaking secret rule #56 "Never give good advice to newbies, unless it had a direct impact on your own burn experience. If you can give bad advice and thus improve your own burn experience, by all means you should do this. Especially if the advice is being given on the eplaya."
It's in the secret handbook.
