Music for the journey

Post by trilobyte » Mon Aug 20, 2007 1:19 pm

In a couple days, I leave for the desert. While I've been building things and getting my gear together, I had to spend a little time working with music... here's something I came up with as a sort of soundtrack to the upcoming adventure. Check it out, turn it up, and let it become a part of the soundtrack to your own fantastic voyage beyond the Horizon.

Trilo - Horizon

The tracklist is hard to explain. I twisted a few things around quite a bit, and a couple of the tracks never quite fully make their mark in the set (but pieces of those songs play essential supporting roles). If you dig the mix and want to support the artists, here's what went into the mix...

Modeselektor - Untitled
Depeche Mode - Kaleid (5' Mix)
Jahcoozi - Shake The Doom (Kraddy Remix)
Daft Punk - Technologic (Hot Einstein Remix)
Karsh Kale - Manifest (Remix by Brian Seed featuring Oscure)
Dhruva and Haj featuring Juakali - The Balance
David Starfire - Hauli
Michael Jackson vs. Punjabi MC - Billy Jean (Remix)
Demon featuring Craig Walker - Fréaky
TY featuring Roots Manuva - So U Want Morre? (Refix)
Freq Nasty featuring Phoebe One - Boomin' Back Atcha
Skeetaz - Elephunk
Si Begg - Control This Thing
The Disciple Grin - Yoke
Future Funk Squad - The Channel
Del Wire - Zero
Tipper - Outsideinsideout
M.I.A. with the Wilcannia Mob - Mango Pickle Down River
Bassnectar with Persia - Kick It Complex
Nine Inch Nails - Hurt (White Label Remix by Heinali)
Groove Armada - Purple Haze
M.I.A. - Bird Flu (BreakBeatBuddha Remix)
Ooah - Tubstomper
Santogold with Freq Nasty - Creator

Running Time 1:04:07, 88.2MB @ 192kbps

Trilo - Horizon

Thanks, Trilo!

Every year, I look for new music to listen to for the journey out, so that when I hear it again later it will remind me of *THAT* year.

I'll definitely be downloading this and putting it on the MP3 player.

Thank you thank you thank you.... for what it's worth, I just learned that the promo copy of my BPitch Camping Control Volume 3 disc had a misprint... the first track on the mix is not Modeselektor - Untitled, it's:

Ninjaman - Weed Wid Da Macka (Modeselektor Remix)

that weed wid da macka track is dope!

We had modeselektor play for us at a party last year and they opened with that track... killer shit!

Here's a mix I made for everyone, my first time burning, so far I've got sets lined up at the smoochdome (kissing music) and the black rock roller disco (skate jams)... still gotta find somewhere I can rinse all this minimal and dubstep though!

This mix is a smorgasbord of aural delights on the disco/funk/abstract hip-hop/spiritual jazz tip... enjoy!
