getting to the bm

Post by linn » Tue Aug 21, 2007 1:50 pm

hi you all
i'm flying all the way from israel, and landing in sun francisco.
looking for a way to get to the bm.
i have no car or van.thought of catching a bus to reno, buying some food products, water, getting a tent, and trying to find a ride.
do you think it's a good idea?
what about renting a car in reno?might make it easier to get around and carry all the staff with me,will i be able to find a car to rent in reno 1 day befor it starts?
and, will i find a vacant room to stay in reno?

hhmm..if any of you have a spair place,i would be happy to join..i'm all alone.. :( (but not for long)
...

see u there

You should have no trouble renting a car in Reno. Just be sure that you DON'T tell them you are going to Burning Man. There are a lot of hotels in the city and you also should have no trouble finding a room. I would suggest booking both the car and the hotel in advance. You will find all sorts of places to shop right near the airport and you should be able to get everything you will need for the week.
I always make a list ahead of time and then just work my way down the list as I shop.
Don't forget a dust mask and goggles this year--I hear it's very dusty and windy.

I would offer you a ride, as I'm bringing someone else who's flying into SF, but we just filled up. I am thinking there are other folks from the area who might still have space, since it's about the time people are looking to replace those who changed their mind at the last minute. You might want to check the ride board.

Ride Share Board

You might also try Craigslist. You're arriving after our group leaves, so that probably wouldn't work out anyway.

you may want to order your tickets in advance to be picked up at will call. See http://tickets.burningman.com/. They're going to be more expensive at the gate.
"
If tickets are available for sale at the Gate they will be dramatically more expensive in order to make it clear that you should have purchased your tickets earlier. ABSOLUTELY NO tickets will be sold at the Gate after 11:00PM on Thursday, August 30, 2007.
"
Also, at the same site, tix are available at walkup outlets in SF and Reno thru the 24th (probably not helpful to you).

Good luck!
