a lot of prescription medication (like, legit prescription... i dont really care about yer doses...!) suggests that you keep it within a certain temperature range- my birth control, for instance, suggests i keep it in temperatures below 86 degrees fahrenheit. obviously, this can't fly on the playa.
maybe this is just a law-suit induced "suggestion" and won't actually play a part in the effectiveness of my no-baby pill, but i'm just curious to see how other people have dealt with this issue (if at all) in the past.
also, i'm kind of wondering how on earth i'm going to remember to take it consistently...normally i use my cell phone as an alarm but i'm not bringing that or any other time piece... any advice on keeping things regular?

For the week you're out there, my prediction is that no harm will befall your medications. I used to use slide film that required _refrigeration_, and there was no diminution of its properties after having it out on the playa a week, then in a hotel room a few days - both before exposure and after.
I take prescription medicine, too. This is my 12th burn with no problems whatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatsowhatso

Well, one could make the argument that you might have when you were younger, but your mother drilled into your head that you must put your jeans on before you go out. It would have been a rather different situation for your mother, when you were young, to insist that you take your birth control pill before you went out in the morning.
Boy, am I glad my mother won't be on the playa.

It's hard to have a normal conversation with someone with 6' acrylic rods strapped to your back.

yeah, me too, that would be scary. at the same time, i'm assuming there won't be consisancy to the time i go out, wake up, go to sleep, eat, smile, poop, laugh, fart, jump, scream...ANYTHING.

Think about it this way:
Most medications are manufactured to have a shelf life of so many years (usually 5 or so).
Assuming there is no change in mechanism of a chemical reaction with rising temperature, the speed of the reaction doubles with every 10 degrees C increase in temperature (18 degrees F).
Suppose you store you medication for one week at 104 degrees F (86 + 18). That means that in that week it would have degraded twice as much (two weeks worth) as it otherwise would.
Even if the reaction were dramatically sped up (say 5x normal), 1 week at elevated temp still doesn't make that much of a difference.

I don't have any advice for this year that hasn't already been said, but for next year, maybe you could look into getting a shot instead of pills. I switched because I'm scatterbrained enough that even in the default world I leave my phone at home or forget to recharge the batteries or something so I STILL miss my pill. It's nice to just not have to worry about it for 3 months.
