While hydration packs are about the most useful thing out there, I personally can't stand the look of them. They never work with my outfits, are usually covered in logos, and they make just about everyone look the same from behind out there.
I always just buy the replacement bladders and put them in something else. All of the function in whatever form you choose. Sometimes I just toss it in a shoulder bag (wrapped in a towel to insulate and prevent condensation getting on my cigarettes). This year I'm doing the steampunk thing, so I've built a boiler backpack out of one of those mini beer kegs. Hinged top to take the bladder in and out, and the tube feeds through the tap on the keg.

I love the Corps, Just not their branding on a pack.
It wasnt the globe and eagle painted over.
it was
"1 800 Marines" with recruiting info screened below it. already been there, got the shirt and sword to prove it. So I didnt take offense to my buddy painting over an ad. I feel bad though, after 911 I got sucked back into the reerves, theres no Camps nearby so now I wear Army Brass - Doesnt seem to fit right or shine as bright either. Semper Fi

One of the Meanie Greenies (Figjam 2013)
First year we went to the playa we bought three enema bags and made straps to wear them with.
sorta tasted
funny...
guess we should have washed them out before we used them
but a couple people just loved them and were amazed they hadn't seen the idea used before
but for what, eight bucks? they provided the same function for a lot less than a brand name water pack

I got one of those leather Spanish skin things to carry water around with. Is having a hydration pack that much better? Someone told me it wasn't worth the bother, but reading the comments here, I'm not so sure.
It's hard to have a normal conversation with someone with 6' acrylic rods strapped to your back.

We have Bota bags too, but a hydration pack gives you pockets for this that and the other. Just be sure the strap on the Bota is nice and wide or it will bite into you; ours had knotted strings and we replaced those with wide woven belt straps.Valkyrie wrote:I got one of those leather Spanish skin things to carry water around with.
