The wind seems to be peaking at about 55 cubits per millihour. The temperature about 308 kelvin.. Make sure to drink lots of water.. Probably at least 87 milliliters per kilosecond.

People that soooo concern about the weather should be at home where you can turn you a/c on and off as you please!
Deal with nature is part of been a burner!

Current weather reports suggest that left-over energy from a Caribbean hurricane is working its way north, and may bring rain or dry thunderstorms to the Reno area.

All I can say was the big blow that whipped in Thursday is in my top 3 favs for the whole event.

We were caught open Playa on the way back from big rig and sheltered behind the black deuce and a half art car from 3:15 and Esplanade. Kind of scary to see something that massive just materialize out of the swirl 10 feet in front of you.

What sealed it as one of my favorites was when one of the guys on board yelled out "Congratulations! You found us! You win the grand prize!" and handed us a cold PBR.

I hope it calmed down a little for the late leavers. I rolled out Monday night and it was pretty much total white out from start to finish. Kudos to the Exodus team working that night.

Same here.. we finished packing out during the white out and got out around 9pm.

The monday night white out continued well in to the night with visability down to under 15 feet most of the time. People were driving all over the place in the area of 8:30 and Grassland. It was a very dangerous thing. At times the cars and trucks had to be warned with a flashlight to avoid colliding with the two vehicles parked well inside camp. I somehow managed to get to sleep in my tent so I don't know when it ended. Tuesday morning exodus was clear at 7:30 am.

The thursday afternoon whiteout found me in deep playa near a 5 sided shade structure. I was giving away ice cream with friends. Everybody in the shelter got ice cream and when it was over we proceded on to the big rig jig.

As a three-time burner since 2005 does anyone know how 2007 dust bowl compared with years prior to my first Burn?

how deep does the playa get cove3red in water in the winter? We just picked up a snowmobile as well - is the playa good for sledding?

i picture hitting the hot springs on a sled this winter.

In 2001, the Playa was similar to the crust on brownies: *very* crumbly. On Gates-Open Monday, it was difficult to ride a bike more than 100 feet without getting bogged down (unless you had legs like Hulk Hogan). We pretty much gave up bike riding and walked everywhere by Wednesday. By Saturday, the only things mobile were art cars and the Playa was a huge bowl of 6-8" deep...uhmmm, let's just say "talcum powder."

For the Temple Burn, I didn't go out. I had Playa trenchfoot and was coughing myself cross-eyed from the dust. I stayed in camp, listened to Dvorak and took care of myself. The only thing that told me the Temple was burning, was an orange glow through the white-out and the sounds of people sobbing.

You must have been near our camp (Euphoria) at Esplanande and 3:15.

Dustiest year ever. I had large dunes around the pieces of my art installation. Most people who were only there during the event saw just a portion of it. Much before and after.

Tuesday day after the Burn was very dusty, but that evening saw the most intense wind during my nearly two week stay... and then it rained a bit and got cold. We actually had a small tornado b-line directly through our camp. It was out on the inner playa. I turned around for 30 seconds to a minute to get my camera and when I turned back around it was on us tossing unpacked stuff a block away. A half piece of plywood visited us too.
