Crude Awakening BLAST!!!

Post by yojessimac » Mon Sep 03, 2007 3:44 pm

Did anybody happen to get a video of the oil derrick burning and the amazing masive blast that went along with it???!!! I have checked youtube a couple times because I need to see it again ( not that it will compare to actually being there, just need to try and put mysef there again). If you have a video, could you please upload it and post or send me the link?! I would be much obliged! What a fun and interesting and spectactular burn this year...Love all you!

i have a video...unfortunately i was too far zoomed in though. all you see is the beginning of the explosion, then white as the explosion expanded. the guy in front of me had an awesome video. Hopefully a good one will make it to you tube. That was simply amazing!

Been waiting for days to see some video of the Crude Awakening burn ... is that IT?

Wasn't TV Free Burning Man (aka Current TV) supposed to be filming it as well? I wanna see more pretty explosions!

This is from about 100' from the boundary fence and about 250 yards from the rig. Enjoy!

It was ridiculous!!!

And it wasn't even as big as they had intended!

One of our campmates was watching it next to a French pyrotechnic guy who had assisted the Crude Awakenings group with the explosion and he said that they were using totally new propane jet technology with it and they weren't sure what would happen with the "L" shape of the pipe . . . but apparently the explosion was supposed to be SO huge and hot that it would "vaporize" the derrick!

I can't even imagine what THAT would have been like! The fireball as it was had me wondering for a mo' if I should get ready to stop, drop and roll!
