Each year I hear about folks that can only go for a day or two and they buy a ticket for the whole ride. Maybe, there could be a "Half" ticket?
or "Discount" ticket? It would open the door to good folks with little money. Folks at the "Insomniac Sweatshop" look forward to seeing you next year.

Won't happen. There are scholarship tickets, and I know plenty of people who scrimp all year to go. I admit that there has to be a certain amount of discressionary income, but setting aside five bucks a week gets you your ticket after a year.

They got rid of day passes to keep the normals from Reno from upsetting the naked people.

I greeted two "locals" late thursday who were coming in just for that night and I highly doubt they were there to actually experience Burning Man. It sucks that people who really want to go are often unable to due to the expense, but by offering discounted day passes and such, most of those tickets would probably be snatched up by people coming just as spectators. Or in the likely case of the people I greeted, "distributors".

Don't judge to harshly, locals either love it, or they hate it, and you would never see them. Many are just like every one else and are unable to get the time off to enjoy it, just like many other people.I greeted two "locals" late thursday who were coming in just for that night and I highly doubt they were there to actually experience Burning Man.
Not quite free, but close enough. As I understand it, and I may be misinformed, the residents of Empire and Gerlach get in for free.

LOLgoathead, you may be right... i definitely judged them, though while they were certainly cool, they just didnt seem the type. many would probably say the same about me though.
I am sue if you saw me eating breakfast at Bruno's you wouldn't consider me the type either. Many times I have just gotten off shift, to pop out to the playa to enjoy a few hours with my campmates till I have some days off.
