Suicide at Comfort and Joy....

Does anyone know anything about the death of our friend Jermaine at the Comfort and Joy camp? We reported him missing on Thursday and learned yesterday of his suicide in the dome... of course we were completely shocked and also really uncertain of the sequence of events that lead to his death. Does anyone have any information? We saw a posted suicide note and are wondering who found that... it didn't really sound much like his writing? As a part of his crew at the burn, please, we are seeking to learn more of his last hours on the playa.

It seems like he needed to be in another reality, and now I know he has wings to fly. We miss him a lot, and the ripple of his action has had an incredible impact. I know he is not suffering anymore, and that brings me comfort.

If it wasn't covered by Moist, there wasn't a note found, it was just more playa rumor.

Ruth,
Moist = Moisturepup, a handle for someone who is part of, and was at C&J the morning your friend took his life.

http://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic. ... 6&start=30

is a thread, and moist outlines some of the events, at the bottom. There is a rather insensitive start to the thread, but it is a big world, full of lots of people.

the thread is in:

ePlaya Forum Index -> ePlaya :: Burning Man for the other 51 weeks -> All About Burning Man -> Experiences at Burning Man -> Reported suicide on the playa

I am very sorry for your loss.

:( Damn. This was my first year at BM (2007) and this is my first time posting anything. I just had to say that I'm very sorry to hear about what happened, but strangely I can understand why someone would commit suicide out there. Being at BM was a blast at times but at times it was very emotional as well. A lot of stuff came up for me. Somebody who's going through a hard time should probably be very careful and their friends should be watching out for them. I found the HBGB Healers Camp to be a safe refuge when I didn't know what else to do. When stuff starts coming up you need people to help you with it or else you'll go crazy. I REALLY hope it wasn't a murder because that's very scary to think about!

Anyway, my heart goes out to his friends and I want them to know that it's not their fault, even though they probably know that already. Burning Man is fun, yes, but it can also be very emotional. I had some pretty dramatic fucking experiences myself. You really need the support of the people around you and a lot of fortitude if you're going to survive and come out a better person...otherwise it will kill you.
