So how many people were out there this year???

Post by bigbluedoggy » Fri Sep 07, 2007 9:25 pm

I have been watching for this topic to come up and so far have seen nothing, so I figured I may as well start it myself. I have heard anything from 42,000 to 57,000. Does anyone know what the actual attendance number was? I know that by Wednesday of this year it felt as crowded as it was on Friday of last year.

And were we in the same spot as last year or did we move back to where it was in 2005? Thanks!

Doggy
A plan is what you vary from.

Destiny Lounge 3D will be at Bradbury and 3:15 this year as a part of the 404: Village Not Found group of camps! Come see us!

I think we were at the same spot as in 2006. I found some year old moop when I arrived on saturday before the event. It was a medalion with a blue ribbon for securing arround the neck. It broke when I pulled the ribbon out of the ground and so I dug it out. Somone with GPS waypoints of the man or center camp could varify an identical location. That I can not provide.

That sounds about right. I saw a figure of 47,000 and change as of noon Saturday reported by the BLM when I was sending some email to the wife and stopped to check to see what the news was saying about the event.

Hmmm... Ouch. I was personally responsible for recruiting more than a dozen virgins for our camp (Kinetic Sculpture Racing Camp). I believe most of them contributed mightily to the BM community.

But success has a flip side, for sure.

The working number we were working with at JotS Camp was 50,000 as of thursday. And there were still people lined up at Greeters.

Holy fuck! That's a lot of shit!

The official number on the white board at playa info was 44,xxx as of Friday noon. I'd guess more people came in after that.

:D
Robbidobbs, you are a hero!

At Kinetic Sculpture Racing Camp, we rented our own A.D.A. size unit directly from United Site Services. It filled up MUCH faster than we expected, even though we kept it locked. Turns out, the big A.D.A. unit has a TINY tank! The A.D.A. "house" is big, but the space is all about making a three point turn with a wheel chair. The tank is half or third of a normal tank! And getting it pumped more often turned out to be difficult.

To my point: I'd like to see JOTS set up a dispatch office in BRC, so people can walk in and make necessary changes to their camp rentals.

Again, Robbidobbs, Thanks For All That You Do!

Not wanting to sound negative or anything, but if sagebrush thinks that 48,000 is too many, maybe he can start helping out by staying home.

As far as I'm concerned (and in case you didn't know it's my personal concern that counts at Burning Man) :P

What matters most isn't how many participants we recruit, but WHO.
