Glitter Camp, Shambhala, Fern Grotto Air Conditioned Dome

Post by Fledgling » Tue Sep 11, 2007 11:30 am

Last year and for the previous three years we were occasionally visiting an air conditioned (swamp cooled) dome on the Playa. I remember it was named Shambhala one year, and at one time it was located within Glitter Camp. It was decorated with lots of greenery inside and little lizards and toads and such.

I also remember the name Fern Grotto (maybe last year) but I know there is another Fern Grotto camp that is not the same.

Question is, does anyone know the dome I am talking about, and could they direct me towards the owners ... I am needing some advice on swamp cooling a dome and they would no doubt be a great help.

Thanks!

The dome belongs to my famous neighbor Ray. He is a very nice engineer type guy, who I am sure would love to help you out. I will tell him to check out eplaya for your message.

That dome has made playa acclimation for me the past 3 years wonderful. I cant imagine a year with out it......its amazing. Have you gotten in contact with Ray yet? A newly formed crew for 08 and were looking to create something similar. It really is one of my favorite places in BRC.

No word from Ray yet. I am a very nice engineer type guy too, what a coincidence. Any assistance getting the two of us in touch would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
