Here are things you should "not", if for no other reason than the shear stupidity of it.

Wow, you gotta be pretty smart to build something like that . . . (and ...)

Or even riding on a properly desiginated track.

Why do the shoes always fall off in accidents (although usually it's only one shoe.)?

Holy crap! That is one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen. The only saving grace is that it shows the bike going really, REALLY fast.

Hope he's not seriously hurt. That said, what a RETARD! What if there were any people out in front of him? That was seriously stupid.

Looks like he was just meaning to do a burnout and it got away from him. Maybe I'll go back and watch it with sound unmuted. Either way, I hope the guy's ok. Jeez... Ouch.

It's too bad he couldn't put some developmental efforts into making it stop as quickly as it takes off. What a dumbass.

Makes me glad that once our great scientific minds determined that a rocket could lift people into space, someone said, "okay, now how about the second half??"

[quote]As a drag racer, Bill Dube must have performed a thousand burnouts in his time – which is probably why he didn’t bother putting on any protective gear when showing off the amazing power of his KillaCycle drag bike to journalists from TG daily at the Wired NextFest.

But when you’re dealing with 350 brake horsepower, it doesn’t take much to go wrong before all hell breaks loose – and when the rear wheel gripped instead of slipping, Dube was catapulted across a courtyard and into a parked minivan in the space of seconds.

Video of the painful incident here.

Luckily, Dube wasn’t seriously hurt, and damage to the bike was limited to a bent front rim, forks, cowling and some battery cell damage. According to Dube’s KillaCycle website, the incident quells any safety concerns people may have had about the batteries – “No smoke. No fire. Ultra safe cells. Had these been anything but A123 Systems Nano-phosphate cells, shorts would have caused a serious fire.â€

Once you cross a certain speed safety is kinda silly to consider for some. Some folks know that at a certain speeds you will be FUBAR and don't bother. I had a phase like that myself, tootin around on a 1340cc HD with no helmet. I grew out of it after finding out about ABATE and listening to some shit they had to say about helmets and whatnot. I suggest riders also take the riding/safety course available these days. Sometimes you'll get cheaper insurance to boot. I also respect the riders right to choose their own safety measures.
