tunnel of x-mas lights you go thru wearing trippy glasses???

Post by slandermask » Mon Jan 05, 2004 3:23 am

goatsheads and rabbitpearls,

i.m w o n d e r i n g if anyone knows who made the installation featuring a tunnel of x-mas lights that you walk thru wearing those weird x-ray like paper glasses that makes the lights all warped and tweaky?

i.m producing an event at a massive club in SF and want to incorporate this piece into the party.

any and all info. would be dearly appreciated,

thanks.

They are called "Magic Glasses Camp"

Check them out here: http://www.magicglasses.com/

Also, you can do the same thing, pretty low tech (but incredibly cool!)
just string up lights and purchase some fractal glasses (also known as fire works glasses). Do a google search for 3-D glasses or fireworks glasses and several companies that sell them will come up.

hello

my name is ali and, along with a couple of friends, i came up with
the idea of magicglasses camp. along with 50 or so friends, we staged
it at 5 burning man festivals.

so, if you have any questions, i'm happy to answer them. if you are
interested in the genesis of the idea:

I hear it was called the magic glasses camp, but I can't remember where I heard that, so I might be wrong.

Given that you refer to your joint creation in the past tense, I count myself as fortunate to have experienced it while it existed! Thank you, thank you! for the wonderful visuals and inspiration!

hello

indeed - for a host of reasons, we decided to dissolve the camp. as campmates we had so many wonderful experiences and, i hope, we put smiles on many faces of those who passed through the tunnel. we basically decided to quit while we were ahead.

magicglasses changed my life in ways i'll never be able to explain. thanks so much for your kind words.
