Burning Man 2008: Passion

Post by MoisturePup » Thu Sep 20, 2007 11:06 pm

The BM org has announced that the American Dream was a joke and that Passion is the real theme this year. Thankfully that can still include things like Donkey Fucking, and even the banal American Dream.

Good luck kiddies, spread the word and cancel your fat suit order.

Passion, yeah! Instead of the milque toaste What-Is-America vision (not that there's anything wrong with that...mostly) do creative anarchistic whimsical stuff (with sexual overtones of course) and save Burning Man.

that's a HOT strategy...

...tell the world it's all about the American Dream
(so the BLM renews the permit)...

...when we all know the real theme is always the same....

....PASSION....

whew...thank god. I was afraid I was going to have to start Flag Burning Camp just because the BMORG suggested that we shouldn't burn American Flags. I've never wanted to burn an American Flag in my life, but the fact they are saying we shouldn't makes it WAY too tempting. With a theme like this, I expect the biggest number of burnt flags in all of American History. We should make sure Guinness is on hand to see if it makes a world record.

I was thinking of having a naked flag burning parade where we could see how many expressive things we could do to the flag during the march, just to have a healthy, cathartic, artistic expression of our feelings about America in the current world context. I'm sure that we could come up with some radical self expression related to the flag that could raise many eyebrows. And lets make sure we get lots of pictures and video so that Fox News and all the conservative media can hear us loud and clear. Maybe even Bill O'Reilly will cover us... (and boy, a few months before a national election, wouldn't that make great news). That would serve Larry Harvey right for his stupid theme.

Okay, I'll just cool my jets and get it locked in my brain that Larry Harvey has fallen off a cliff this year, but I don't have to fall off with him.

Passion it is.

I hope we are not talking passion such as Mel Gibson Passion? I think we all agree that would be on par with the current theme. We need Passion such as, getting naked with total strangers and letting loose.... yeah, that what I talking about

Not that I have seen much of a green theme this year... What is the American dream, anyways??? Business suit..., corporate life..., always somebody to report to...??? Screw that!!!!!! (Even though I’m in this business  ) Houses, cars, parties, good time, and being able to afford all this crap  !!! That's what it’s all about.
So, I'll be really disappointed to see American flags and BS like this on the playa; and I really hope that next year will be better than this 2007 one (not that I did not enjoy it).

Monkeys passes the torch!

Post by MakeMineMonkeys » Sun Sep 23, 2007 8:35 am

Monkeys officially passes the unofficial theme torch to the inventors of PASSION, the new alternate theme for this year.

Since the alternate alternate theme for last year was actually "donkeyfucking," we also wholeheartedly endorse the alternate alternate theme for 2008, "Sand in your vagina."

As long as people think the theme is "what's on the website," these efforts should continue, in order to support debate and subsequent free thinking.

Monkeys also officially condemns He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, as arson and attempted manslaughter are not in good monkey fun. Remember, if someone names him, reply "He's so 2007. Give it up."
