Bucky, all ready for the burn. But some stupid stole his goggles during the first whiteout. A nice newb called What's Left of Riley Taylor brought him a new pair. Nice! Although the joke is on the goggle thief, those Wonka goggles don't fit a real human face, I hope their eyes are full of grit still! Bucky is quite excited, I have just sent for a mailorder bride for him, Mrs. Bucky, and an improved child, Bucky Jr., Baby Bucky is oh, so jealous. He is looking forward to participating in an art installation for 2008 with his new family.

Gee, think that's co-inky-dink? I mean, just because this household practically has Fear and Loathing memorized, and Where the Buffalo Roam too, and a handful of green Vegas visors, plus Hawaiiandy shirts and a ciggie holder for even the non-smokers? Hmmmm?BAS wrote:Ya know, it just occurred to me: Bucky looks like Hunter S. Thompson!![]()
Just thought I would mention it. I think it is the cigarette which does it.

Don't forget the flying manta rays!
(Though I still haven't fully forgiven Hunter S. for committing suicide-- I've come up with some questions I want to ask him since he died. For example-- the place in Vegas which may have been called at one time "The American Dream" sounds like it burned down roughly the same time as Bobby Kennedy was killed-- was that deliberate? [I figured that out after watching a dvd which came with the anniversary edition of the Dead Kennedys "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables", in which East Bay Ray discussed the origin of the band's name.)
B.
(Might have to get the "Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas" soundtrack onto an MP3 player for the 2008 burn. Good background music for searching for the American Dream.)

A complete waste of time.
I did like the Horatio Alger references in the book-- the contrast between what Vegas stands for and what H.A. promoted in his writings is amusing.
Well, I have one recruit for my camp for '08. ('though I am worried about his taking the preparation part seriously enough.) If I get another temp gig at the restoration outfit, I might try to recruit another person or two. Speaking of which, I need to go job hunting and stop hanging out online....
(Unless someone can spare a whole bunch of money...?

LOL. I already have a wheelchair. But what would I name this incarnation of Bucky? CryptoBucky? Oh, now you've done it, a whole family of alter-ego eplayan Buckys.
For those of you who want a decent, or indecent , skeleton, Buckys on ebay run $75 to just over $100, including shipping. Comparison shopping is a must. Pre-Halloween 'tis the season. Bucky Jr. is technically a Bart. Not everyone lists them as Buckys and Barts however.
Buckys in the catalog I get are $269 and up for first quality models. Mine are fourth quality, but we're forgiving.

Maybe I should stop following this thread! Now I am coming up with uses for Buckys (Buckies?) of my own! (Yeah! If I build that wind generator from MAKE magazine, I could have a skeleton hanging from the tower! Hey! I could put it in crow cage or something...!)

HUzzah! Mrs. Bucky has arrived! And she's first quality too, they ran out of fourths and upgraded Bucky's Bride, simply marvelous! Creamy ivory white bones, she's lovely.
She's still in her shipping box, and no, those aren't angel wings above her shoulders, that's her removable legs. Oh, go ahead Fishy ... you know you want to.

I am hoping to have her and Bucky show off their wedding finery at our Decompresson the 13th. Wheee!

That's a girl Bucky? You're sure about that? Check for the notch at the back of the skull. If she has that then for sure she's a boy. Myself, I think it's just a boy in kind of really naked drag personally, although it is so hard to tell in that box. Then again, I'm not opposed to gay marriage, so I'm sure they'll be happy.

hehehe, physiology be damned, that's a girl Bucky if I say so.
She's trying on wedding gowns today. Bucky Jr.'s leg fell off at the knee, I'll have to figure out how the rod goes back in. I'm beginning to think he's a she also. Bucky himself is still in the garage, lurking in his bin. Baby Bucky, who isn't a Bucky at all (I guess he's adopted) is hanging in the hall down in the basement. Some dysfunctional family, huh?

On the first episode of this season's "Bones" they came across a silver (plated?) skeleton, and that thing looked really COOL! (Now how in the H--- am I going to afford a silver plated skeleton? Much less two [so's they can frame the entrance to my camp, of course!

Cool! I should be able to find some in the Madison area, then. ...all of which means I am going to need to start saving up some money, 'cause, right now, I have none...!
(I'll bet that is how they made the one for "Bones", come to think of it.)
Thank you!

...I started to get curious and did some looking around- Scroll down the page on this site and take note of "rolls of aluminum leaf". Probably your best option for covering big areas (like skeletons!) for less dough.
There's always spray-chrome automotive paint too- But I have yet to find a decent chrome spray that isn't REALLY hard to work with. I'm impatient, and want my spraypaint dry to the touch in three minutes! Most of the hardware store chromes can't be overcoated with clearcoat either, without losing the high part of the shine. BUT- I love a shiny silver surface, and have been trying to get something decent-looking for my Art Robots for years...Krylon Metallic Silver followed by Triple Thick Clear Glaze in multiple coats looks pretty nice, although it's NOT that hard metal shine like True Chromium.
...now I'm gonna go try to find out what you CAN and CAN'T have actually CHROMED. ('spensive, but it'd be the ultimate solution coolwise...)

That's some beautiful shiny stuff there ... now I want a gold and a silver skeleton!
I've worked with gold leaf before. It is fiddly stuff, and has a different look than the sleek gold chrome shown. I've used it mostly as an accent, not that it is difficult to work with, just laborious. And expensive these days.

They chromed that resin statue, so a skeleton should work. (Hmm, would chrome be a little TOO shiny for what I want...? OTOH, spray on would [probably] be easier, and I am lazy!
Thanks for the links!

I like the third dress personally, but then again, I've got this thing for velvet.
It's funny y'all are getting into chroming stuff. I've become absolutely fascinated by the anodization/dying process lately myself.
