How about this for a theme?
Burning Man 2008: Hope You Brought A Boat
Of course, it won't be officialy anounced until the day before the gates open.

I'm getting myself cryogenically frozen, so I can feel real ironic when I wake up in the next Ice Age.BAS wrote:Oh damn! I seriously do want to get my self cryogenically frozen! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to quite get my act together to get signed up for it, yet. I really need to somehow get decent life insurance to pay for it.theCryptofishist wrote:I'm getting myself cryogenically frozen, so I can feel real ironic when I wake up in the next Ice Age.BAS wrote:Oh damn! Yeah, but people use it so often, the cryonics movement has given up fighting it, at least in my experience.Plastic G'zus wrote:Does anyone but me realize that the term "cryogenicaly frozen" is redundant?

OK, but only if you can clone a few mammoths, mastodons, sabre toothed tigers, giant sloths, ...
Otherwise, forget it.
Yes! Definitely! We've already brought horses back to North America, so how hard can it be to reintroduce the other critters?

in remember in 97, or 98, there was a GIANT SNOWCONE.....which literally, made my week.....i could not believe my eyes.
i just stood there, weeping, as i licked my cherry icy goodness...
if they can do that, then we can chill the playa, and make everybodies fingernails MUCH nicer....not to mention, giving the frat boys something to do, as they watch us writhe and wiggle like horny little wrestlers from space.
hooves and gristle CAN taste good, with the right recipe....
and i think i changed my mind, maybe....how about ENORMOUS marshmellows that you can be fully engulfed in.....then eat your way out....
oooooooohhhhhhh, sticky....mmmmmmmmm, pre-diabetic shock....

I am currently working on a giant Fresnel lens to melt a big chunk of the ice caps. I figure, they're done for anyway, might as well do something fun with the water. Now all I need is some volunteers to work on a giant pipeline to get all that water where we need it. Here's what it's gonna look like.

I love the name....Wannafuckya. It fits so many businesses there to a T, especially the Red Lion hotel & casino. I will never as long as I'm alive ever step foot on to one of their properties again.

yes, the "jungo boogie" was terrifying....we could see the playa, but at one point, we (our party of 5) were quite certain we would never make it alive...
we actually caught air in a class c Winnebago, and let me tell you, velcro is the SHIT! i was so thankful that everything had it, otherwise it would have been much worse....we got lost at HARDon, a ghost town/mining town where the road just stops......then starts again 1000 yds away...
i knew the train tracks ran parallel to the eastern edge, so we improvised, and finally came swinging around to empire...NEVER AGAIN....NEVER FUCKING AGAIN....maybe on a BMW 650 paris to dakar moto....MAYBE.
The Red Lying Inn is SO sleazy, they actually were advertising the one remaining member as FOGHAT....
he played in Wannafuckya and then Sparks....(shudder)
i am convinced that all of america is like pond scum, slowly floating to california...those that cant make it over the sierras retire in Reno...
(shudder).

well, truth be told, i actually LIKE northern nevada, and not only know how to pronounce, but have been to Denio....
there is something about the stark nothingness that turns me on....
call me crazy, but once you get a taste of the alkali, you change...it's inevitable...
Its an acquired taste, definately, but it's one i will always savor....
but i still wouldnt mind if they nuked winnemucca, that town has no redeeming value whatsoever, except possibly as parking lot for imlay falls.

Shhhhh. Don't be talking about the unmarked "scenic byway" of Jungo Road. Next thing you know some fool in Congress will approve funding and NDOT will pave it...and it will be spoiled forever by traffic.
I love stopping out past Sulfur, shutting the truck off and getting out to just look...and listen. The air is clean, and on sunny days you can see well over 50 miles away. It's a challenging drive, but oh so beautiful. Again...it's not for the faint of heart or those without the very best equipment, tires, etc as that road can and most likely will try to kick your rear end.

yes....yes....yes.....(deep sigh)....
it is both heaven and hell on earth....first time i saw fly ranch, i thought i was in the land of the lost...
beautiful, and beyond words.
it is the playa that draws me back each year like a dusty siren...
and the big fucking fire, of course...

Before I ever read this thread I actually had several dreams that the playa was full of water and lined with trees. In one BMorg had built a really nice resort on the shores complete with marina, restaurant, and full bar. Those with enough loot could stay at the hotel. I didn't get to see any of the event but I sat in the bar drinking thinking about how fucked things had gotten and swearing never to return. Real shit I swear. Oh yea I've had prophetic dreams in the past.
