Thats one of the funny things NickCollide, alot of peeps that attend Burningman dont attend the eplaya forums.

Wellllll... I was kinda hopin' that some of the peeps that I have told about Burningman since getting back - and the website and ePlaya and the Booby Bar - would have stopped by.

Yep, the fellas (Lukky & Trojan) were all full of ideas about adding another camp to Terminal City on the ride back to Utah, but we'll see how that works out. It sounded fun but would take a lot of work before AND a lot of work during OR a lot of kind volunteers running the show so nobody misses too much exploring time out in Black Rock City.

But then, you know all about that, huh?

*shakes head* oh yea... um, i don't know how to bartend, and i'm a virgin. is this a survivors camp or just a support camp? i can make an aweomse white russian, and i can always learn, but i have never bartended before (except for myself, white russians).

Dedqgirl, ok this is what you need to do FIRST!

Before we concider you for camping with the BOOBY BAR Camp

In reading what you've posted so far, you will definately need to read the survival guide at least 18 more times.

You will need to figure out what the difference is on Gifting and Bartering.

Burningman festival is a gifting community. No $ unless your addicted to BUYING a cup of coffee on a daily basis, the only money your pocket will need is possible ICE purchases.

back to the Survival guide... when I read it 20
times...Im not really kidding. I did. And I will tell you, I was still over prepared in some area's and under prepared in others.

sorry, i'm confused. where did the $ talk come from? i actually printed out a copy of the 2007 survival guide (is the 2008 out yet?) and i sleep with it. i know the difference between bartering and gifting.... i'm interested in joining, but in the OP it said you have to bartend or support the bartenders.... i'm more than happy to support the bartenders and i would certainly love to learn how to bartend... are you not taking new members or something? sorry, just confused...

oh and i still want to be the pinata

Not to speak on her behalf, but I think mom is just covering all the bases in one quick sweep.

What is meant by either bartending or supporting the bartenders is either the obvious of you jumping behind the bar and start serving the drinks up or you help as a what amounts to a bar back and backup bartender if it gets busy.

Learning how to bartend is not to difficult and given that the bar is gifting the drinks to the guests, fuck 'em if they don't like how you pour. =)

No... just kidding... we love our guests. Without the guests, we would have had to drink all of that booze ourselves and while such a feat was attempted, it just would not have been possible.

The big reason I personally would stress the importance of knowing the survival guide and devouring all of the other information you can get your hands on would be to one, make sure you are prepared as possible to be truly radically self reliant and two, make sure the only thing your camp mates have to worry about is getting you situated into the groove of the camp.

The "read the guide" mantra will probably be heavily utilized to the point of annoyance leading up to the burn for the simple reason soooooooo many people out there were so fucking clueless this past burn. I was a wide eyed newbie chasing the bright shineys, but I made sure I was ready for anything the Playa had to throw at me.

oh and i still want to be the pinata
