Looking for Texas Burners

Post by badopie » Wed Oct 03, 2007 8:19 pm

I am planning for BM '08. I will be traveling from Lamesa, Texas (south of Lubbock- north of Midland) to BRC and am looking for other to caravan with. I'd consider joining an established camp or possibly starting a new one. I have begun recruiting friends with an interest to go along and we're deciding on art project. As of now, I have a small motorhome and a trailer is in the works. I also have many talents as a fabricator, recycler of found objects, and general nuisance. I would appreciate contacts with burners new and old.

Damn son... talk about the middle of nowhere... :)

I'm over in Ft Worth. If nothing else, I'll be driving through Lamesa on my way out in '08. Gotta make Pie Town before 6pm this year. :)

Stay active on the board and let people get a feel for how you interact and it will make signing on with a camp a little easier. Just watch out for those crazy Terminal City folk... you never know what we... um, er, they might be up to.

I'm originally from Lubbock, but I've got 20 years on the west coast - you'll find that the playa ain't so much different (weatherwise/dustwise) from the Great Plains - but the people, now that's another story...you're gonna love it!!! Welcome Home!

I'm in Dallas and might be driving from Dallas to BRC this year. Let me know if you need to make a pit-stop in Dallas and/or maybe we can collaborate.

greetings pinemom & HughMungus,
great to hear from others and thanks
for posting in my thread.
........Hugh, i'm about 350 miles west
of dallas, so unfortunately i won't be making
a pitstop there. however, you're welcome
to come by here if you're seeking true boredom...lol
maybe we could caravan if you're passing through
this area. strength in numbers and all that..
later,
opie

Patricia?

Post by hearsedrv » Mon Nov 05, 2007 12:10 pm

I live south of fort worth, drove thru lubbock on way to BM last year.

Grew up in Midland, graduated in 84, then TT in Lubbock, even lived in plainview...but patricia? I thought that town had 13 people in it back in the early 80's! Use to drive thru it every couple of weeks back in the 80s

I dated a girl from Lamesa back in 85 or so....

If you make it to dfw area give a shout on Tribe, as there are always something with burners going on around here.

Caravan easy to do....we always do some sort of caravan, or at least know were each others at in case of trouble. 2000 miles each way is pretty long.

The sandstorms you have and the dust storms on the playa are diffrent. I think the ones in Lamesa are worse in that sand hurts. Might not be as strong as wind but the dust is much finer and does not hurt like the sand around Lamesa.

Hi!!!

So my darling husband is bound and determined to get to Burning Man this year (2008)

We live in Austin, Texas and I thought I would throw this up here in case some one is near or around Austin.

I see that most of the posters are from North or West Texas.

My husband has one , maybe two friends that might go with him, but he said if he has to go by himself he will.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to see if there's anyone around our area, just to make the connection since this will be his first year going.

Thanks :)

Roxxi,

We are going from roughly Austin. We live in the boonies but that's about the closest real city. We'd be happy to team up with anyone looking for a caravan.

I'm in Austin as well. Looking to caravan up there and hopefully get something built before hand. I'm a little late to the planning stage, but I wasn't sure I was going to get the time off. I'm a grad student here.

I'm in Austin also and looking to ride with someone to burningman! I will split the cost of gas and other finances with anyone willing to share a ride.
Let me know..........
